Zenica
About 2500 employees, demobilised soldiers and pensioners protested today with a motto “Let’s save Zenica from killing”. Among other things, they demanded revision of the Labour Law. They announced a general strike, if their demands are not fulfilled, Fikreta Hadziavdic reported from Zenica.

The B&H Council of Ministers did not discuss amendments to the law on passports, proposed by the Deputy Chairman of the B&H House of Representatives, Mirko Banjac. The Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Spasoje Tusevljak said that the respective Ministry demanded more time, and announced that the Council would make a decision on the issue in their next session. Banja Luka
The RS Assembly session took place in Banja Luka today. SDS delegates demanded that voting on confidence in Milorad Dodik’s Government is included in today’s agenda. According to the RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik, only a Prime Minister can demand voting on confidence in his Government. The Assembly appointed a commission which should solve the dispute. The Federation Government decided to increase prices of fuel by 10%. The decision will become effective a day after it’s gazetted. There is the lack of fuel in the Federation, and most drivers buy it in the RS. The Government announced that they would make a decision on liberalisation of prices of fuel in a month or two. The Federation Government adopted a plan of measures and activities for fight against black market, illegal import, tax evasion etc. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Dragan Covic the action could not have started earlier. “It does not make sense to start this action in the Federation, if it has not started in the RS as well”, he added. The HDZ organised a press conference today. “Mr. Prlic announced his resignation from HDZ three months ago”, said the Secretary of the party, Marko Tokic, talking about resignation of the B&H Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic from the HDZ. “Two months before the elections, HDZ will not insist on Prlic’s resignation from the Council of Ministers”, Tokic added. The Millennium Summit of world leaders started in New York yesterday. The Chairman of the B&H Presidency, Alija Izetbegovic addressed the gathering. The US President, Bill Clinton met the Israeli and Palestinian leaders. No progress was made. Reported by Kemal Kurspahic.

Education process in the “Vares” primary school is carried out according to two different programmes – Croatian and Bosnian. The US Ambassador, Thomas Miller visited the school today. He asked why children cannot attend classes together. A final decision will be made by the Federal Ministry of education. Reported by Adis Saranovic.

OBN celebrated its 4th birthday today. The first signal from our studio was broadcast on 7th September 2000. “At first, we broadcast only our central news, and today we have 30% of our own programme production”, the OBN General Manager, Gabrijel Vukadin said. “Above all, we are trying to provide information relevant for ordinary people in B&H”, said the Editor in Chief, Jadranko Katana.
