Ugljevik

The Union of employees of the “Ugljevik” Thermo-electric plant announced a warning strike. They also announced a general strike if their requests are not fulfilled by a deadline, Vesna Mladenovic reported.

Prijedor

The Business School in Prijedor received 86 new students, despite prohibition of the RS Ministry of Education. According to the RS Minister of Education, Nenad Suzic such work is illegal. The School Director, Radmilo Kondic feels that the Minister’s work is illegal, Milena Letic-Joves reported.

World

The new Yugoslav Government was appointed last night. The new Prime Minister, Zoran Zizic and members of his cabinet took a solemn oath.

According to Belgrade media, the Adviser of the Montenegrin President, Miodrag Vukovic said that decisions of the newly appointed Federal Government would not be valid in the territory of Montenegro.

5 people, probably Albanians were killed in Kosovo, KFOR announced.

Two Palestinians were killed in Gaza and the West Bank.

The Greek kidnapper of the bus with Japanese tourists surrendered to the police and committed suicide. Zeljka Lekic reported on world events.

“Withdrawal of US troops from peace operations in B&H and Kosovo would be premature and meaningless”, said the US Envoy to the UN Richard Holbrooke for the French newspaper “L’ Mond”.

Brcko

About 12 000 refugees returned to the Brcko District so far. About 2200 houses have been reconstructed. Reconstruction of 6000 more was planned, Slobodanka Radojkovic reported.

Sarajevo

Media reports on strikes in B&H are frequent, but officials do not have time to deal with it, because they are busy in the pre-election campaign. Amarildo Gutic analysed the situation.

“I am strongly against creation of a third entity in B&H. It is important for Croats to vote in the forthcoming elections”, said the B&H Cardinal, Vinko Puljic, in an interview for Croatian TV.

Banja Luka

The US Democratic Institute, NDI published results of a party rating in B&H before the elections, “Slobodna Bosna” reported. The results are similar to those of the April municipal elections. Reported by Dragan Stanimirovic.

Voting ballots arrived to the Banja Luka municipality. Citizens are able to check their information in municipal election offices, Sanela Zivkovic reported.
