Banja Luka

The RS Minister of Justice, Cedo Vrzina ended his visit to the ICTY. There were no concrete results after discussions between the Hague officials and the RS delegation. Reported by Tatjana Lajsic.

Zivinice

The new authorities in Zivinice municipality paid a part of the debt left from their predecessors. However, they are faced with numerous problems due to corruption and bribes in the municipality, which led citizens to a very difficult situation. Amarildo Gutic produced the report.

Prijedor

The local authorities were formed in Prijedor, after several weeks of consultations between parties and meetings with the OSCE. Reported by Milena Letic-Joves.

Sarajevo

The Helsinki Committee, B&H, recently met representatives of the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees. They were optimistic about their future work and co-operation. The Chairman of the Committee, Branko Todorovic did not mention violation of human rights in Janja. The report was produced by Sanjin Beciragic.

Gypsies in the RS are in a very difficult situation. They asked for help from the German aid agency “Caritas”. “Caritas” prepared an aid Project for reconstruction, which includes Gipsy houses as well. Reported by Tatjana Lajsic.

Sarajevo

Three B&H pension funds signed an agreement on distribution of pensions recently. In this way, pensioners’ problems should be solved, and their rights should be regulated. Mirna Sadikovic produced the report.

World

According to the Birtish magazine “Independent”, special British units are training the Montenegrin special police force.

A progress was made in relations between the North and South Korea.

Israelis and Palestinians are negotiating in the Near East. They should overcome differences which led to failure of negotiations in Camp David.

The Palestinian authorities arrested one of the leaders of “Hamas”.

Northern Ireland

The British Government released several terrorists from the notorious prison “Mase”. According to the peace agreement from April 1998, all members of illegal groups, who respect the ceasefire should be released. During the sharpest clashes in Ireland, there were 1800 prisoners in “Mase”. All of them were released. Reported by Mladen Maric.

Sarajevo

More than 2300 delegates attended the Congress of Jehova’s Witnesses in Sarajevo. Sevko Bajic produced the report.
