Yugoslavia

During last 24 hours, NATO had severest strikes against the Federal Republic Yugoslavia. More than 600 flights were made during the day. This was announced by the NATO spokesman, Jamie Shea. The USA President, Bill Clinton, and the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, agreed to intensify NATO air campaign until Milosevic accepts conditions made by the Alliance.

Russian Envoy, Viktor Chernomyrdin, came today to Belgrade after his talks with officials in Rome and Bonn. He said that Russia is for the stronger participation of the UN in finding a solution for the Kosovo crisis.

The European Union announced that oil embargo against Yugoslavia is imposed. Fifteen other countries, which are not members of the Union, have joined the embargo.

Macedonia – refugees

Macedonian Interior Minister, Pavle Trajanov, said that the International Community did not work out a strategy for the Kosovo refugees in Macedonia and that his country was facing with the humanitarian catastrophe. For the last four days only, 20,000 refugees came to Macedonia.

Italy

BIH Presidency member, Ante Jelavic, and Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic, made a private visit to the Pope John Paul the Second. Before that, they had talks with the Italian Foreign Minister and Foreign Trade Minister about business cooperation between the two countries and a role of Italy in the reconstruction of BiH.

Sarajevo

Upon their arrival to Sarajevo, members of the BiH Parliament team, Edhem Bicakcic and Meliha Filipovic, said that the joint presence of the BiH delegation at the second session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council in Strasbourg, was a step further and another proof that BiH should be a part of the modern Europe.

The BiH Council of Ministers adopted a report on the last year budget and sent it to the BiH Presidency.

Zenica

A piece on a recent statement of the SFOR’s North Division Commander that the Croatian House “Kralj Tomislav” in Zenica might become a target of a terrorist attack and reactions of the local HDZ.

Crime in BiH

A report on situation in the Sarajevo Canton and steeling of cars, smuggled to RS. This was followed by a report from Trebinje where 14 kilograms of marihuana were captured at the border crossing near Trebinje.

Banja Luka

At the regular press conference of the international organizations for the Banja Luka and Bihac areas, the UN IPTF spokesman said that courts in BiH do not have funds or equipment that would make their operating efficient.

Zenica

At the today’s session of the Association of Sipovo Citizens, currently placed in Zenica, the main topic was return to Sipovo.

Doboj

A piece on return to the Doboj area. Some 1,600 people have returned to the area up to now.

Velika Kladusa

Negotiations on common schooling program in the BiH Federation were started long time ago and were never finalized. This was illustrated with story from Velika Kladusa where Croat children from an elementary school every day pass the border between BiH and Croatia. They ask for education in another state.

London

During the show, a report on explosion of a bomb in the center of London came. At least thirty people were injured.

Sarajevo

Strike of railroad workers was stopped after five days and today’s talks with the BiH Federation Prime Minister, Edhem Bicakcic. It was agreed that employees would receive their salaries for January during the next week.

BiH Syndicate held a press conference on Vrelo Bosne, near Sarajevo, about hard living conditions of BiH workers.

Banja Luka
