Sarajevo

The OHR and OSCE are surprised because of quick adoption of the Law on appointment of a successor of a Presidency member by the B&H Parliament. They believe that the decision should be made by a new Parliament after the elections. Reported by Vedran Persic.

Janja

The Head of the Bijeljina police, Savo Cvijetinovic said that several Serbs and Bosniaks were arrested after recent incidents in Janja. Violence in Janja lasted two days. Mostly Bosniak families who did not leave Janja during the war were attacked. The police control the situation now. Damir Kaletovic produced the report.

“Evictions in Janja continue”, said the RS Minister for refugees, Milan Dragicevic. “They will be carried out in accordance with the law”, he added. “Violence in Janja was previously organised”, Mr. Dragicevic said. All refugees should be registered, in order to fulfil their rights, Nedeljka Breberina confirmed from Janja.

Bijeljina

The UN Spokesman, Alun Roberts said that work of local police and courts in Janja was supervised. He also said that a mine field was discovered in Siprage, near Kotor Varos. Reported by Igor Pozgaj.

Travnik

According to the UNHCR, 28% of minority returns were implemented in middle Bosnia. Registration of refugees and the displaced in the area is underway. The report was produced by Ana Drmac.

Mostar

The Croatian Prime Minister, Ivica Racan visited Mostar today. Mr. Racan said that few joint projects were planned for Mostar. “I am very grateful to Mr. Racan for his ideas about Mostar”, the Mayor of Mostar, Safet Orucevic said. Denis Vila produced the report.

The SPS candidate for Presidential elections in Serbia will be Slobodan Milosevic. The US called on Milosevic to organise free and fair elections.

The US Secretary General, Madeline Albright met the Foreign Minister of the North Korea. Ms. Albright said that a historic progress was made in relations between the two countries.

The US President, Bill Clinton warned leaders from the Near East not to undertake any one-side actions.

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch replaced the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ahmed Smajic. Allegedly, he knew about an animal disease since 1998, but he never did anything to prevent its spread. The Director of the Federal Tax Administration, Ramiz Dzaferovic was also replaced. “Mr. Dzaferovic was connected to several corruption affairs, and he misused his position”, the OHR Spokesman, Chris Bird said. Banja Luka

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch appointed a new RTRS Administrative Board. The RTRS Board member, Zeljko Kopanja said that the situation in RTRS was chaotic. The new acting manager, Jelena Davidovic did not want to give any statements. Reported by Tatjana Lajsic.
