The newly elected Russian President, Vladimir Putin, said that his victory was a great incentive for the Government’s attempts to reconstruct Russia. Joint delegations of the Federation Army and the RS Army had a meeting today in NATO Headquarters in Brussels with the Secretary General George Robertson. A Financial conference on support for the countries who are members of the Stability Pact for South-East Europe will start the day after tomorrow.
7 months after the Stability Pact, B&H is still without a Government or Election Law. Nevertheless, the Bosnian Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic, expects confirmation of the promised investment for B&H.. A Bosnian delegation visited Slovenia today. Slovenia is ready for new investments in B&H, and they will invest 2 million DM for the founding of an Agricultural Institute in Sarajevo. Slovenia exported to B&H about $363 million worth of goods last year. They will address the IMF experts on the issue of “Ljubljanska Banka”. Reported by Tomaz Gerden.

The study “Hydro-thermal resources in the area of Ilidza” was promoted in Sarajevo today. It was made by the B&H Geology Institute. The aim of the study is to point out the importance of exploitation and protection of the water. This already attracts foreign investors. One of them is the Slovenian company “Termocatez”. International forces arrested 6 people after an explosion in the Serb-controlled part of Kosovska Mitrovica. Meanwhile, French soldiers blocked this part of the town, and started searching for hidden weapons.
Parliamentary elections took place in Iraq. There are 500 candidates for Parliamentary seats, and most of them are members of Sadam Hussein’s party.
After the unsuccessful meeting between the American and the Syrian Presidents, the USA announced that at the moment it is not possible to continue the Israeli-Syrian negotiations, but that they will continue their efforts in this direction. Montenegro
The cultural model of the “tribe” has not dessapeared from Montenegro yet. If the results of the Referendum were in favour of an independent Montenegro, some tribes would have had to continue their lives in Serbia, some in Yugoslavia etc. The Ministry of Justice of Montenegro rejected the registration of the National Councils that were proclaimed in a meeting of the tribe representatives in Monastery Moraca last October. The Canton Court in Sarajevo dropped the charges against Ibrahim Djedovic, who was in detention for 3 years, for committing war crimes against civilians.
Tuzla
Former Prime Minister of Canton Tuzla, Hazim Vikalo, was found guilty at the Municipal Court in Tuzla and sentenced to 2 years and 2 months of prison. His two associates were also sentenced, and the charges against the fourth defendant, Damir Piric, were dropped. After the sentence, Vikalo held a Press Conference, claiming that this was a conspiracy by certain officials from Sarajevo and International community against him. Employees of “Polihem” from Tuzla organised peaceful demonstrations in the streets of Tuzla, demanding their salaries. They arrived in front of the Canton Head Office, where they had a long conversation with the Canton officials. The strike will probably continue, because the employees were not satisfied in the end. The OHR reminds people of the Federation Government decision that the deadline for purchase of the flats in this Entity was prolonged until 6th March of this year.
