Kosovo

From midnight last night, the state of emergency in the Federal Republic Yugoslavia was called off. However, the atmosphere in many Kosovo towns is very tense. The Serbs continue to leave Kosovo while the Albanians destroy and rob their houses. OBN journalist, Slobodan Maksimovic, produced the report.

Due to the conflicts in Kosovo, the US President, Bill Clinton, has asked for the fast deployment of KFOR troops. The NATO Commander in Europe, General Wesley Clark, urged for the establishment of the International Police Troops in Kosovo.

Croatia

Members of the Croatian Farmers Association blocked all important ground roads in Croatia and threatened to do the same at all border crossings in Croatia if the Government do not comply with their demands. In the meantime, the 10th anniversary of the HDZ party has been celebrated in Zagreb, Goran Vezic, reporter of the STINA Agency, confirmed from Zagreb for TV Info.

Orasje

A report on the implementation of the law on customs taxes and fees for Croatian goods at the BiH border crossing in Orasje. Last year, the Federal budget was down KM 144 million due to the breach of the customs law.

Process of return

In both BiH entities, there is a lack of political will for the implementation of Annex 7 of the Dayton Peace Agreement. This was the conclusion of two day seminar about rights of refugees and displaced people held in Banja Luka.

This was followed by a report on the round table meeting in Zenica, organized by the Serb Civil Council and Association of the Banja Luka Citizens from Zenica. Participants of the meeting discussed the process of return to these two towns.

Doboj

Today in Doboj, municipality businessman met with OHR and SFOR representatives. They agreed that returning economic facilities to the pre-war owners was one of the main priorities within the process of return.

Lukavica

The Local Elections in BiH have been postponed until April 2000 and all those who are 18 by 31st March next year, will be able to vote at the elections. The Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Robert Barry, had a meeting today with young people in Lukavica – the Permanent Election Law was the main topic of the meeting. OBN journalist, Amarildo Gutic, produced a report on this.

Sarajevo

This was followed by a report on the Forum of the Social Democratic Party female members held today in Sarajevo where representatives from both entities participated. They concluded that there were not enough women in the executive and legal bodies of the state, although official statistics say that approximately 30% of women participate.

Middle East

A piece on another escalation of clashes in the Middle East and the current situation in the region was produced by OBN journalist, Mladen Maric.

Bihac

A report on the promotion of the project for building the highway between Velika Kladusa and Kljuc. OBN reporter, Azra Bajric, produced the report.

Brcko

A year and half ago, the harbour at Brcko was officially re-opened. However, it is not in use for transport because technical facilities are not functioning. OBN reporter from Brcko, Slobodanka Radojkovic, produced the report.

Tuzla

A two day round table meeting has been organized in Tuzla. The organizers of the event were the Democratic Alternative of BiH and the topic “Who Oppresses Journalists?”.

Sport

A report on the results from the European Championship in basketball was followed by a report on the tennis tournament in Wimbledon and Formula One racing in France.
