7 people were injured in a fight between the Serb refugees and Bosniac returnees near Teslic. The police reinforced security in the area. Reported by Svjetlana Celic-Ninkovic.

Sarajevo

The Federal Privatisation Agency cancelled 143 public tenders. In the future, the new Tender Bureaux will supervise the sale. The Bureaux will be consisted of local and foreign auditors. The Agency is ready for co-operation, but international organisations in B&H have different standpoints regarding the privatisation process, said Adnan Mujagic, the Federal Agency Director. Sarajevo

On 18th April, the OSCE announced the list of 109 politicians who resigned from their positions in public enterprises. This was a consequence of the Temporary Election Commission rule on incompatibility and conflict of interests. The politicians are not allowed to be directors or members of company boards at the same time. Politicians who were members of the Federal Privatisation Agency Board also resigned recently. Zenica

The new B&H Steel Company director is dr. Mithoal Sartawi. He announced his business moves for the following two months. He expects help from citizens and authorities in Zenica. At the moment, our management and expert team is split between the B&H Steel and “Zeljezara”, and this should not continue, said Sartawi. It is not late to correct this mistake, he added. Mostar

The Federation Government continued their interrupted 39th session in Mostar today. They accepted the initiative of the Federal Ministry of mining, energetic and industry regarding special employment measures and work control. In 20 days, a special session should take place, where these issues would be discussed. Reported by Senada Malanovic from Mostar.

World

The Russian National Security Council adopted a new military doctrine, according to which this country can start a nuclear attack.

Russian delegates ratified the agreement on prohibition of nuclear tests, announced Igor Ivanov, the Russian Foreign Minister.

Russian planes continued their strikes in Cechenia. 40 bombardments took place yesterday.

The EU delegation arrived in Cechenia, in order to investigate the situation there.

The Russian Navy Ship fired at a Japanese fishing boat near the Curil Islands. Tokyo announced that no one was injured, and that the Japanese boat was captured, and 20 crew members were arrested.

The Italian President has to decide whether to appoint the new Foreign Minister or to organise elections.

The citizens’ situation is extremely bad in Brcko, and they blame the District Transitional Government. The Assembly will organise at least two sessions in this month, said Mirsad Dapo, the Brcko District Assembly Chairman. We will discuss the Assembly procedures and laws, he added. The UN Mission Head in B&H, Jacques Klein, awarded a check on $49 000 to the International Commission for missing persons today. The money will be used for reconstruction of Institute for genetic engineering and biotechnology in Sarajevo. There are about 5000 unidentified bodies in B&H. 29 Serb families will return to Sarajevo settlements Hrasno Brdo and Vrace in May. The reconstruction of their homes is financed by the German Humanitarian Agency “Help”. Reported by Mirna Sadikovic.

Mostar

40 Serb families returned to village Prigradani, near Mostar.
