Kopaci (Gorazde)

According to an information received from the Gorazde Canton Ministry if Internal Affairs, a bomb was thrown near the Bosniak returnees house in Kopaci. There were no casualties. The RS police, together with IPTF, have been investigating the incident. This morning, the return of Bosniaks who spent whole winter under tents, has begun this morning. Zagreb

The Government of the Republic of Croatia dismissed the Zagreb Town Assembly. The President of the Assembly, Zlatko Canjuga, announced raising of charges before the Administrative Court, Gordana Simonovic confirmed for TV INFO.

World

At least 28 miners were killed in an explosion which occurred in a mine in Ukraine. The Ukraine authorities announced that some 90 miners were in the mine when the accident happened. The UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and the Russian Acting President, Vladimir Putin, met in San Petersburg in order to discuss the war in Chechnya, economic problems in Russia and the role of Moscow in the preservation of peace in the Balkans. In the meantime, new fights have been waged in Chechnya. This was followed by reports on Colombo, Chile and Rumania. Zenica

A delegation of the BiH Federation and the “BH Steel Company” from Zenica signed an agreement on commercial cooperation with a German Concern. The signed protocol is opening possibilities for a long-term cooperation and providing of a place on the Western market. However, implementation of the agreement depends on the modernisation of the production facilities in this mix BiH and Kuwait company. This means an additional investing, OBN reporter, Amarildo Gutic, produced the report.

Cazin

The BiH Federation Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry has organised a two-day seminar for agriculture inspectors in Cazin in order to improve agriculture production. The report was produced by OBN reporter from Cazin, Azra Bajric.

Sarajevo

An item on the forthcoming elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Civil Alternative Parliament, which gathers a number of non-governmental organisations, organised a round table meeting in Sarajevo. The topic of the meeting was “The role of citizens in the election process”. At the same time, the Serb Civil Council held its session and emphasised that their strategy goal was the establishment of equal status of ethnic groups in BiH. Sarajevo

According to the reports of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, four years after the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, not even a half of 2,5 million refugees had come back to their pre-war homes. Most of those who return to Bosnia and Herzegovina become displaced persons because they are unable to return to their homes. A number of local, non-governmental organisations is operating in BiH. Very often, they lack funds for their work. A French humanitarian organisation “Premiere Urgence” has started a project for providing financial assistance to these organizations, OBN reporter, Anes Alic, confirmed.

Tuzla

An item on the peace protest of the women from Srebrenica held in Tuzla today. Although five years have passed since the tragedy of Srebrenica, the truth about thousands of missing people has not been relieved yet and the war criminals are still on freedom. Mostar

The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Dragan Mandic, resigned today. The question is whether this resignation has something to do with the current events in the area: the establishment of the joint Canton police forces and arresting of Croats indicted for war crimes. Sarajevo

A group consisted of 32 members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton returned from the training in Egypt. The training was funded by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Meliha Hasanbegovic.

Usora

A report on the project of reconstruction of three elementary school and the construction of a gym in Usora in the Zenica-Doboj Canton. The Government decided to take a credit for the project worth 700,000 DEM, Rifa Vilasevic confirmed for TV INFO.

BiH Cardinal, Vinko Puljic, visited a home for people with special needs “Nas dom” in Travnik today. OBN reporter from the area, Branka Vrebac, produced the report.
