Sarajevo

A piece on the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On this day in 1992, citizens voted for the independence and sovereignty of BiH. Approximately 63,2 % citizens voted for an independent BiH while 0,19 % were against that. However, the holiday is not celebrated all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. A traditional reception was organised in the building of the BiH Presidency in Sarajevo. Croat and Serb representatives in the current authorities in BiH did not accept the invitation, OBN reporter, Damir Kaletovic, confirmed.

Banja Luka

This was followed by an item on the 1st of March in the RS. The BiH Independence Day was not celebrated as a holiday. A poll made on the streets of Banja Luka has shown that the citizens were not informed about the date. The report for TV INFO from Banja Luka was produced by Igor Pozgaj.

Mostar

March 1st was celebrated on the East bank of the town of Mostar while on the West bank it was just an ordinary work day, Blazica Kristo confirmed for OBN from Mostar.

Strasbourg (BIH Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic)

At today’s session of the Committee of the European Council of Ministers in Strasbourg, the BiH Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic, addressed to the participants. A joint statement of the BiH Parliament and Presidency, aimed for a fast reception of BiH to membership of the EC, was presented yesterday. Minister Prlic said that the reception was positive but that this was not enough and that there were still conditions which BiH must fulfil in order to become a member. Mr. Prlic added that chances of BiH to become a member in the European Council soon were not too realistic.

World

In Kosovo, a KFOR Russian parachutist was wounded in the Srbica village. The attackers have not been identified. In New York the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, said that the situation in Kosovo was disturbing. In Jerusalem, the Israeli Government was defeated after voting in Parliament and the functioning of the Coalition has been put under question. Mozambique

More than 100,000 people in Mozambique are in danger of their lives because of the recent floods. The exact number of victims can not be determined because there were no official data on the number of citizens in the country. Only three days after the floods, international aid was started. UN Development Programme Officer, Stella Pasaribu-Guzina, who has just returned from Mozambique, explained the situation in the area for TV INFO. Mrs. Guzina said that although the floods were normal for this time of the year, no one expected such a catastrophe. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Duska Jurisic.

Banja Luka

The RS Government dismissed members of Managing and Supervising Boards who are at the same time republic officials. At today’s session, the Government also discussed de-mining activities, Tatjana Lajsic confirmed from Banja Luka.

Sarajevo

The BiH Federation Prime Minister, Edhem Bicakcic, presented to the Main Board of the BiH Trade Unions the economic policy of the Government. However, they did not discuss the General Collective Agreement on Work. The piece was produced by OBN reporter, Mirna Sadikovic.

Banja Luka

An item on the request of the Banja Luka company “Incel” trade union to the RS Government and the Main Board of the company to fulfil their responsibilities signed on December 7th last year. If the Government and management do not fulfil their obligations, the “Incel” trade union said they would forbid the management to come to the company, Nedeljka Breberina confirmed for TV INFO.

Kopaci

For some four months Bosniaks from the Kopaci village near Gorazde have been trying to return to their houses. After they were prevented from coming to their village last autumn, they put tents near Kopaci and have been waiting for action from local and international officials during the winter. OBN reporter, Amarildo Gutic, produced the report.

Kiseljak

A report on the Brizje village near Kiseljak which was destroyed during the war. Now, although Croats want to come back they can not return to the completely ruined village, Marina Bogdanic confirmed from Kiseljak.

Ilijas

Some one hundred refugees still live in the collective refugee center in Ilijas. Now, authorities want to throw them out, although no one explained why, Sefko Bajic, confirmed.
