International Ferry Service to be Established in Brcko

International Ferry Service will be established at the International Border Crossing Brcko – Gunja between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia on

Thursday, 15 June, at 13.00 hours

Among others, the Principal Deputy High Representative, Ralph Johnson, the Brcko Supervisor and Deputy High Representative, Gary Matthews, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director, Edward Kadunc, and senior government officials of both countries will participate in the opening ceremony.

The infrastructure necessary to establish this new service to allow trade, traffic and commerce to continue between the two countries was generously funded by USAID. It provides an alternative means of access during the reconstruction of the bridge, which is being funded by the European Union and scheduled to reopen later this year. Further, it is an example of outstanding cooperation between USAID and the European Union in jointly implementing projects designed to benefit all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In conjunction with the establishment of the International Ferry Service, the bridge at this location will close to traffic on Thursday 15 June at 12.00 hours.

All members of the media are cordially invited to attend.

The Office of the High Representative and United States Agency for International Development look forward to this event and to continued increased mutual relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.
