HR/EUSR Inzko Meets Croatian Foreign Minister Jandroković

High Representative/EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko met with Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Jandroković in Sarajevo today. The HR/EUSR informed Minister Jandroković about the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and they exchanged views on the situation in the region and the process of Euro-Atlantic integration.

The HR/EUSR stated that the experiences of Croatia in the process of accession to the EU can be useful for other countries in the region that share the same ambition and emphasized his great appreciation of Croatia’s contribution to regional stability.

“The future of this entire region is in the EU and I hope Bosnia and Herzegovina will know how to make use of the positive experiences of the Republic of Croatia on the EU path,” the HR/EUSR said. “Bosnia and Herzegovina must take concrete steps and fulfil requirements defined as benchmarks for its accession to the EU.”

The HR/EUSR expressed his gratitude to Minister Jandroković for the continued support that Croatia has given Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to the EU and NATO. He emphasized that this represents the essence of regional cooperation, which is a key requirement of European integration.

At today’s meeting, the HR/EUSR and Minister Jandroković also discussed regional economic cooperation though CEFTA agreement and the process of constitutional reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which they agreed is a priority that can only be addressed through consensus, and which must focus on making the government and administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina more efficient.
