High Representative Welcomes PDHR Roderick Moore

High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko today welcomed the new Principal Deputy High Representative, Roderick Moore.

Before taking up his appointment as PDHR and Brcko Supervisor, Ambassador Moore served as the first US Ambassador to Montenegro, from December 2007 to August 2010.

“Ambassador Moore has worked for many years as a diplomat in this region and is an expert in the culture, politics and economy of Southeast Europe,” the HR/EUSR said. “He is well prepared for the challenging and rewarding work that can still be done, both at the OHR and in Brcko, and I am extremely pleased that he has agreed to take up this position.”

Ambassador Moore, who has served in US missions in Belgrade, Sofia, Skopje and Zagreb, and in 1996 was Senior Political Adviser at the OSCE Mission in Sarajevo, said he believed the OHR can continue to play a positive role in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The OHR and the International Community can make a constructive contribution as Bosnia and Herzegovina emerges from the general election,” he said. “There is an urgent need to implement long delayed reforms, not least to stop the economic slide, and the International Community can work with domestic stakeholders to achieve that.”

Ambassador Moore is married. In addition to Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian, he has studied Bulgarian, Russian, Macedonian, Czech, French, Spanish and Haitian Creole.
