The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, together with all of his staff, wish to extend their heartfelt condolences to the families of the 44 people killed in the tragic bus crash near Kakanj on Saturday. They sincerely hope that 11 other people, who were badly injured in the accident, make a speedy recovery.
The High Representative notes that the number of deaths and injuries caused by traffic accidents in Bosnia and Herzegovina remains unacceptably high. The authorities are currently investigating the causes of Saturday’s accident. The High Representative looks forward to the results of this investigation with keen interest, and hopes that it leads to action being taken that will minimize the risk of such tragedies happening again in the future.
