First train since November 1997 delivers grain to the Zitopromet mill

A train delivering approximately 620 metric tons of grain to the Zitopromet mill in Brcko will arrive at approximately 5:00pm Tuesday, April 1. The grain signals the beginning of the agreement between Zitopromet and World Food Programme to process grain into flour for World Food Programme needs.

The train is the first to travel to Brcko since Italian SFOR soldiers completed reconstruction of the track in November 1997 with funding provided by USAID. It originated in Ploce, Croatia, where it received the grain at the port, and travelled through both Bosnian entities en route to Brcko.

Wednesday morning, Brcko mayor Borko Reljic, OHR North Deputy Supervisor Gennady Ivanovic Shabannikov, USAID Program Manager Dr. Kevin Rushing and U.S. Army Lt. Col. Tony Puckett will join World Food Programme Country Director Eva Hodell, Tuzla office head Doug Mercado and Zitopromet Director Mico Simikic for a press conference at 10:00am at the Zitopromet plant to welcome the arrival of the train.
