Conference “Srebrenica beyond reasonable doubt” held in Belgrade

 

 

 

BHT 1 by Vesna Simic, Hayat – The conclusion of participants of the conference on Srebrenica, held on Saturday in Belgrade, is that Serbia must face with war crimes in Srebrenica and condemn it. Conference titled “Srebrenica: beyond reasonable doubt” was organized by an NGO, the Fund for Humanitarian Right. Fund’s Director, Natasa Kandic, underlined that the war crimes in Srebrenica cannot be denied anymore. She also criticized the Serbian authorities since none of its representatives attended the conference. “Process of facing with the past must commence in the institutions,” said Kandic. The conference gathered representatives of the ICTY, Council of Europe, OSCE, non-governmental organizations and others. FTV says that the only officials that participated in the conference were Montenegro Assembly Vice-President Rifat Rastoder and Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Ivana Dulic Markovic, who underlined that she came in her own name, and not as a representative of the Serbian Government. Serbian Assembly representative Korac: Serbian Assembly’s policy resulted in execution of 6 Bosniaks from Srebrenica

Hayat – Serbian Assembly representative Zarko Korac has issued a proposal on Resolution on Srebrenica to the Assembly, in order to adopt it. Korac believes that the crimes are not going to be condemned for good. “I will tell you why, due to the fact that the policy which Serbian Assembly runs resulted in execution of these 6 persons, and more than 8.000 persons from Srebrenica. And the most difficult thing is to accept the responsibility and to apologise. But some future Serbian Assembly will do that”, said Korac.

Father Gavrilo who blessed “Scorpions” says he does not regret it/Orthodox Church condemned execution of 6 Bosniaks from Srebrenica

Hayat – Father Gavrilo who blessed “Scorpions” members said in an interview for “Dnevnik”, that he did not regret that he did that. He said that the soldiers went there to fight for their right. He added that he saw that the soldiers were scared, since no one wanted to be sent to the war. Hayat also says that the Serb Orthodox Church (SPC) condemned execution of 6 Bosniaks from Srebrenica.  The SPC condemnation also covered by Oslobodjenje pg 5 ‘SPC condemned execution of Moslems from Srebrenica’ not signed.

Hayat, FTV, RTRS, – Serbian RTV informed that Branislav Medic, former “Scorpions” unit member was arrested. BHT 1, Oslobodjenje pg 5 ‘Member pf ‘Scorpions identified from video tape’ not signed say that Belgrade District Court confirmed this information.

RHB, BHT 1, FTV, Dnevni Avaz pg 2 ‘EUFOR willing to help during ceremony in Srebrenica on July 11’ not signed, Dnevni List pg 2 ‘To mark ceremony in dignified manner’ by NINA – EUFOR Commander David Leakey and BiH Presidency member Sulejman Tihic discussed on Friday security arrangements for the memorial ceremony in Srebrenica on July 11. They both agreed on the need for a dignified ceremony, which would remind of the tragic events in the past, honour the dead and look to the future. It is stated in EUFOR’s press release that BiH authorities have the primary responsibility to take care of safety of people who will attend the commemoration. EUFOR will be on hand and ready to assist as necessary.

Experts who work for ten years on exhumations and identification of victims stated that experience from Suha is the most horrible professional experience to them “At that time, there were no any fights in the Bratunac area. This means that all these victims were taken away from their houses and executed,” said Tuzla Canton Prosecutor, Muhamed Mustafic. State Department expects arrest of war crime indictees from leaders in region

 

RTRS – The State Department has published that it expects arrest of war crime indictees from leaders in the region. This is especially related to Ratko Mladic, Radovan Karadzic and Ante Gotovina. US Undersecretary for political issues Nicolas Burns criticised the Serb authorities in BiH and accused them of stalling the reform process as well as that they do not admit historical responsibility of their national community for war crimes  committed from 1992-1995. He especially criticised Mladen Ivanic (former BiH Foreign Affairs Minister) who avoided all questions asked during the meeting in Sarajevo.

US and Canadian Parliaments to consider declaration on Srebrenica

This is the result of several months of work of the Northern America Bosniak Congress. Pink, Hayat, Oslobodjenje pg 3 ‘Mladen Ivanic can only come to hand over duty’ by Onasa – Chairman of BiH Council of Ministers Adnan Terzic stated that Mladen Ivanic was no longer to perform duty of a BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs and that he could come to the CoM only to transfer his duties. Pink also says that in terms of possible way out of the crisis in the BiH CoM, Terzic said that he was going to hold on to BiH House of Representative’s conclusion, according to which he has to discuss the issue with all parties. Terzic stressed that he did not remove Ivanic due to the fact that High Representative Paddy Ashdown has appointed Sredoje Novic as SIPA Director but because Ivanic let that happen. 

BHT 1 by Z. Sarenacalsocarries Terzic as saying Ivanic’s announcement on coming to his working place on Monday is intentional violation of the law. Ivanic claims that Terzic’s acceptance of his resignation is his self-will and violation of the law. Ivanic accuses Terzic for non-consistency in decision-making and for illegal appointment of acting Minister of Foreign Affairs. He said that he expects the BiH Prosecution to take a stance on this. “I have intentions to hand over my duty, but only when some judicial body confirms that, even if the OHR says that Terzic’s decision is in accordance with the law,” stated Ivanic and added that the second way is if the BiH Parliament or the parties making majority in the Parliament decide to support Terzic’s decision.

Dokic believes crisis in CoM could deepen crisis in BiH authority

 

Pink, by Milka Mrdja – RBiH Minister of Transport and Communications under resignation Branko Dokic said that the current events in the BiH Council of Ministers would deepen the crisis in the BiH authority. He believes that he should be replaced by a person who is ready and able to continue initiatives and projects, which have already started. Dokic said that some representatives of the International Community sent several letters to Adnan Terzic and High Representative Paddy Ashdown asking that Dokic continues to perform duty of the Minister. “Only reforms which are not against any of three constituent peoples in BiH can be carried out, and everybody should understand that”, said Dokic.

Pink says that PDP should propose a candidate for Branko Dokic’s postion. It is speculated that those candidates could be: former RS Prime Minister Dragan Mikerevic, former Minister of Transport and Communications Dragan Solaja and BiH Deputy Minister of Civil Affairs Zoran Tesanovic.

M. Tadic: Croat parties to present Proposal of change of Constitution on June 21’

Iraqi army threats BiH soldiers in Iraq

 

Hayat – Magazine called SAFF brings a threat issued by the Iraqi Army to BiH soldiers, who left for Iraq several days ago. The Army said that the soldiers were going to be attacked, regardless of the fact that some of them are Muslims. Report brings an interview with SAFF Editor-in-chief Kemal Bakovic, who said that after the Army saw BiH soldiers who came to Iraq , they contacted SAFF reporter in Iraq , who gave them SAFF e-mail, and they sent a letter to SAFF. The letter says that the Iraqi army cannot believe that BiH sent its sons to support enemies, after Arabian states supported BiH during the war.

RS POW Association urged US Embassy and HR to publish names of 12 000 foreigners who have BiH passports.

RTRS – The RS POW Association sent an open invitation to the US Embassy and HR Paddy Ashdown to publish the names of 12 000 foreigners that have BIH passports. Association claims that 6000 mujaheedins received BiH passports since they were members of BIH Army during the war.
