SRT carried the news on the Synod session (press statement expected later);
Beside news on incidents, kidnaps, arsons, KLA terror over Serbs, tense situation in Kosovska Mitrovica and many other towns in Kosovo, SRT carried the news item on extension of Milosevic’s indictment (ICTY Spokesperson Paul Risley announced the possibility of extension of the indictment after additional evidence was collected).
SRT carried the statements of SPO (Vuk Draskovic accused Albanian terrorists and separatists for ethnic cleansing), SRS (Seselj accused opposition parties for following the NATO ideology because the opposition rally will take place on Clinton’s birthday (19th of August), Djindjic (DS), G-17 (Dinkic said that the IC would neither co-operate with the Interim Government nor any other government as long as Milosevic stays in power), vice-president of the National Party from Montenegro, Coalition “Vojvodina” and Liberal Allies.
Mirko Sarovic issued a press release expressing dissatisfaction over the appointment of General Kelecevic to the post of Director of the RS Intelligence Service since the appointment has been made without consultations with the president.
Meeting between Kalinic and Kauzlarich in Sarajevo. Kalinic said that only consistent implementation of the DPA could guarantee preservation of RS identity.
SNSD held a press conference in Banja Luka; Stanislav Cadjo said that SNSD considered the decision on appointment of Kelecevic legal. Commenting on the media decision, Cadjo said that it is logical that the RS NA discusses the issue and that there is no reason for any rushed reactions.
RS Minister of Information, Rajko Vasic said that HR’s media decision is “knocking on open doors”, because the Ministry of Information and the RS Government had already prepared the draft law after the elections. Vasic said that RS politics did not enable this material to proceed. It is not an obstruction, because the law included a new name for the SRT, provision on non-partisan management.
IMC issued a statement on recent comments of Rajko Vasic; IMC was established to make order in the BiH media, but not to make chaos as minister Vasic said in interview to Radio Doboj. IMC started the official investigation into this case adding that statements like the one given by Vasic are bringing disorder in media houses in BiH and especially those in the RS.
Press Conference of International Organisations in Sarajevo; OHR Spokesperson said that beside the border crossing in Ivanjica, another one in Gradiska would be opened. UN Spokesperson said that the one more mass grave was discovered with 250 bodies of Bosniaks in the vicinity of Srebrenica;
The RS Directorate for Privatisation and managers of the most important business systems discussed the privatisation of strategic important enterprises; Before the privatisation of these enterprises it is necessary to work out a detailed plan which will determine which parts of these systems would be privatised under special conditions and which ones through vouchers. Only 6 out of 19 enterprises delivered plans to the RS Directorate for Privatisation in accordance with the schedule. Those enterprises are: PIK “Mladen Stojanovic”, Incel from Banja Luka, Naftna Industrija Republike Srpske (The RS Oil Company), “Borja” from Teslic, “Maglic” from Srbinje and “Romanija” from Sokolac. Mladen Ivanic pointed out the fact that the essence of the entire privatisation process in the RS is privatisation of strategically important enterprises.
