Austria

At least 179 people died in a burning funicular railway in the Austrian Alps. According to the information available, only 8 people survived. Causes of the accident are still unknown. Reported by Gordana Frimel.

Sarajevo

An hour ago, all polling stations in B&H were closed. 44 political parties, one coalition and several independent candidates participated in today’s election. “We feel that the elections were OK and that the outcome is very good. We are satisfied with voters’ turnout. OSCE will start announcing preliminary results on Monday”, the OSCE Spokesman, Luke Zahner said.

Sarajevo

Voting in Sarajevo took place without any serious incidents. Voters’ turnout was satisfactory, Anes Alic reported.

Banja Luka

There were no problems on the election day in the RS. About 60% of voters voted by 5 p.m. All polling stations were closed at 7.p.m. The preliminary results are expected at 10 p.m. Reported by Dijana Gajic.

Brcko

After visiting several polling stations in the Brcko District, the Brcko Supervisor, Gary Matthews said that he was satisfied with the elections.

53 polling stations were opened in the District, Slobodanka Radojkovic reported.

Mostar

About 60% of voters voted in the area of Mostar by 5 p.m. Several citizens were not on voters’ lists, and they voted with non-ratified ballots. Reported by Anita Zovko and Alisa Dzebo.

As OBN reporters reported, there were no serious incidents on the election day in all parts of B&H. About 5400 citizen observers, volunteers supervised the General Election.

OBN cameras recorded voting of partisan leaders. All of them expect better results for their parties than in April elections. “This is a historic moment for B&H. B&H can concentrate on its future now, because neighbouring countries are no longer a threat”, the High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch said.

World

9 policemen and two by-passers were injured in a bomb attack on a police station in San Sebastian. Local politicians accused Basque separatists of commiting the attack.

Croats in Mostar, Novi Travnik, Zepce also voted at the Croat referendum which was organised at the same time as the General Election.
