HR urges five Cantonal Assemblies to appoint delegates to HoP of the FBiH Parliament

The High Representative to BiH, Valentin Inzko, today addressed members of Cantonal assemblies in Bosnian-Podrinje, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Una –Sana and Zenica-Doboj Cantons in order to ensure that their assemblies elect the delegates to the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH.

In his letter, the High Representative reminded five Cantonal assemblies of their obligation, under the FBiH Constitution and BiH Election Law and warned them that with the passage of the deadline they have breached their obligation to elect delegates from their Cantonal Assemblies.

The High Representative appealed to the Cantonal Assemblies to fulfill their responsibility and elect their delegates to the House of Peoples of F BiH Parliament with no further delay. “It goes without saying that until the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH and the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH are constituted, these levels will not be able to adopt the reforms needed to address the country’s serious social and economic problems,” the High Representative warned in his letter.

The High Representative also commended and extended his support to the BiH’s Central Election Commission for its efforts invested into resolving this issue.
