Ambassador Ellerkmann's End of Mission

Sarajevo, 13 September 1999

Ambassador Richard Ellerkmann, Deputy High Representative and Head of OHR South in Mostar has informed the High Representative, Ambassador Wolfgang Petritsch, that he would like to return home to Germany, when his contract expires at the end of September 1999.

Ambassador Ellerkmann took over from Sir Martin Garrod in October 1998 and previously served as Deputy Head of Mission of OSCE in Sarajevo for a year and a half. He has been contributing to the peace implementation and institution building efforts in BiH since 1996 when he came to the country for the first time as an OSCE supervisor for the first elections after Dayton.

The High Representative wishes to thank Ambassador Ellerkmann for his understanding, dedication and contribution to OHR's Mission of bringing peace and prosperity to Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also pays a warm tribute to his wife, Mrs. Marianne Ellerkmann, for her services, who worked as a volunteer for the German NGO HELP, assisting refugees and DPs to return home.

The successor for Ambassador Ellerkmann will be announced later. Until his arrival, Mr. Gerhard Sontheim, the current Deputy Head of OHR South, will be Acting Head of the OHR office in Mostar.
