This week The Open Broadcast Network will deliver a transmitter to TV Cazin
increasing the signal from not just the town of Cazin but to the whole area
of Bihac. Another transmitter of the same power will be installed in
Bijeljina (TV Arena). This is another very significant and important step
forward for the only independent cross-entity television station in BiH, as
the OBN will now cover virtually the whole area around the River Drina- an
area where only TV SRT, TV Srbija and TV KS (that is TV SRNA) could
previously been seen.
Transmitters increasing the OBN signal will also be given to TV Banovici and TV Zavidovici. Next year, digital equipment, a digital camera and an editing suite will be delivered to TV Tesanj, the only affiliate of OBN that employs journalists from both entities. The same equipment will be provided for TV Travnik, TV Prnjavor, TV Zavidovici and TV Prijedor as well. Plans are also under way to increase the signal from TV Rudo and TV Vitez by putting in an antenna system for the satellite, so they are able to show OBN programmes. The OBN Network will be increased on Jajce, Livno, Trebinje and Gorazde - once donations arrive next year. The implementation of these transmitters has been assisted by financial donations from Internews.
