OBN & RTVBiH - Joint Programming Plan

Sarajevo, 11 September 1998

This weekend The Open Broadcast Network and RTVBiH will team up for joint OBN/RTVBiH coverage of the final stages of the election for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

OBN viewers will be able to follow these last minute election stages from 09:00 until 24:00, on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September and RTVBiH viewers from 06:30 to 18:30. As stories break and events unfold pooled footage from both networks will be fed live into the programme by on the ground camera crews and reporters, bringing up to date information to all viewers.

RTVBiH viewers also have an extra one hour election special from 22:00 to 23:00 on Saturday and all Sunday evening programmes following the central news at 19:30 will be devoted to the election until 23:00.

Production positions of OBN and RTVBiH will be co-ordinated at the main OSCE Election Centers in Sarajevo, Tuzla, Banja Luka and Mostar. Links will be set up between Tuzla, Mostar and Zenica to Sarajevo through RTVBiH ground terrestrial links and from the RS OBN Affiliates to Sarajevo via Satellite Up-Link from OBN Banja Luka/ATV into the OBN and RTVBiH networks. OBN is also planning a live link to Washington.

Viewers in the rest of Europe will be able to keep up with the election on 'Europe By Satellite' whose programming will start at 21:00 rebroadcasting OBN news and election coverage. The satellite service of RTVBiH will start on Saturday at 09:00 until 23:00 and there will be a special election coverage programme on Sunday from 19:30 to 23:00.
