Supervisor Crishock: Vision and strong leadership are key to Brčko’s progress

On the occasion of Brčko District’s 25th anniversary, Principal Deputy High Representative (PDHR) and Brčko District Supervisor, Louis Crishock, concluded a two-day visit to Brčko. During the visit, he engaged with both local and international stakeholders to discuss the current political and security situation, the status of ongoing projects, and the key economic priorities crucial for Brčko’s continued development. Supervisor Crishock emphasized the importance of strong leadership to further strengthen and advance Brčko’s unique socio-economic model.

Supervisor Crishock met with Ilija Studen, General Director of Studen&Co Holding, to discuss the relationship between the business community and local government, as well as the business community’s commitment to fostering economic growth in Brčko.

The Supervisor also met the Brčko leadership, Mayor Siniša Milić, Deputy Mayor Anto Domić, Assembly Speaker Damir Bulčević and Vice Speaker Ivo Filipović. Their discussion focused on the importance of engaging maximum efforts in the protection of the District’s stability amid current political challenges and the necessity to remain focused to realize their commitments to improve the living standard of Brčko District residents. He also used an opportunity to talk about development perspectives and governance priorities with SBB Brčko President, Ina Pamukčić.

Finally, the Supervisor also met with incoming EUFOR LOT commander Major Huber, highlighting EUFOR’s important role in maintaining a safe and secure environment.

While in Brčko, Supervisor Crishock attended a Conference on Transport Infrastructure which emphasized that Brčko is not merely a transit hub but a key commercial gateway connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina to the EU and regional markets. With the right policies and investments, Brčko has the potential to serve as a model of growth and progress.

At the Ceremonial Academy held in honor of District Day Supervisor Crishock held a speech. Each anniversary of the District is a milestone of Brčko’s achievements, particularly in strengthening multi-ethnic cooperation, promoting inclusive and transparent governance, and ensuring sustainable growth.

The visit concluded with Supervisor Crishock meeting Chief Imam, Mustafa Effendi Gobeljić, Dean of Brčko Deanery Reverend Damir Ivanović and Protopresbyter-Staurophor Miodrag Tošić and expressing his best wishes for peaceful and blessed time of fasting for all communities. Together they praised the different religious communities of Brčko District for coexisting in harmony with respect and understanding. From Effendi Gobeljić, the Supervisor learned about the plans and activities for the renovation of the Hadži Paša’s mosque, recently destroyed in fire.

The international community remains a committed partner in supporting Brčko District on its path to become a successful, developed, self-sustainable community, free of corruption and welcoming for investment.
