Statement: OHR Supports Resolution To Ilija Jurisic Case

OHR representatives met yesterday with representatives of the Tuzla Municipal Council to discuss recent developments in the Ilija Jurisic case.

Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia are parties to the Council of Europe Convention on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. This convention offers technical mechanisms for resolving cases such as that of Ilija Jurisic. BiH’s Ministry of Justice is the competent body to deal with international legal assistance.

OHR has followed the case from the start and will continue to monitor developments. OHR stands ready to facilitate a resolution to the case  within the framework of the above mentioned Conventions, if so requestd by either party.
