Statement: Better Targeting of Social Benefits

The BH Invalids’ Association has asked for social and health benefits to be moved to the State level. The OHR has replied that constitutional reform must be a matter for BH’s Political leaders.

The HR does believe more must be done to protect the most vulnerable in BH society.

In his speech to FBiH Parliament in October last year the HR expressed his concern that benefits are not targeted well enough.

He highlighted that a social safety net needs to be ensured for the most vulnerable categories of the population by BH authorities.

The HR takes the view that by better targeting social benefits there will be more room for the most vulnerable citizens.

That will be good news for those who are in greatest need. The International financial institutions would be ready to assist.

State and Entity Prime Ministers agreed the Platform for Action on 16 October last year. The IC and the BiH public is now looking to them for action on these issues.
