Senior Deputy High Representative, Ambassador Gerhard Enver Schroembgens visited Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina today for a series of introductory meetings during which the District, its achievements and its challenges were presented. He met the representatives of the District authorities and the OHR Brcko, and toured the District, with a special focus on the return sites.
“Back in 1996 many expected Brcko to remain the hot spot well after peace was brought to the rest of BiH. However, Brcko has proved to be quite the opposite. Much of what I have seen here could serve as an example to the whole of BiH,” said Ambassador Schroembgens.
Ambassador Gerhard Enver Schroembgens joined the OHR in July 2002. Ambassador Schroembgens brings 30 years of diplomatic experience to his new post. For the last three years he has been the German Ambassador to Estonia. Before that his postings included Bangladesh, Spain, the Soviet Union, and the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Ambassador Schroembgens served as the German Head of Mission in Belgrade between 1992 and 1996.
