RTV BiH Liquidation Decision of the Broadcasting Agent

Pursuant to the Decision of the High Representative in May 2002 regarding the liquidation of RTV BiH, it is announced that the liquidation process has been concluded with the issuance of the Broadcasting Agent/Liquidator’s Decision on the Liquidation of RTV BiH. Accordingly, the assets, liabilities and technical resources of the former broadcaster have been allocated by the Liquidator. 

In accordance with the goal embodied in the Second Decision of the High Representative on the restructuring of public broadcasting in BiH to create economically and technically viable radio and television enterprises, all of RTV BiH’s assets and liabilities and most of its technical resources were allocated to the Public Broadcasting Service of BiH (“PBS BiH”). Radio Television of the Federation of BiH (“RTV FBiH”) has been allocated the transmission networks that currently carry its broadcasts. Pursuant to the Second Decision, the third broadcaster of the Public Broadcasting System, Radio Television of Republika Srpska (“RTRS”), was not involved in this process. 

The LIQUIDATION Decision directs PBS BiH to immediately pass the management rights over all property and technical resources to the PBS Media Centre, and requires both PBS BiH and RTV FBiH to immediately pass the management right over their respective transmitter networks to the PBS Transmission Organisation. Both the Media Centre and the Transmission Organisation, once formed, shall have operational and managerial independence in order to effectively and efficiently serve the entire Public Broadcasting System, and to enter into contractual agreements with its members to meet their administrative, production and broadcasting requirements.
