On the anniversary of the Markale massacre, High Representative Christian Schmidt attended the commemoration in Sarajevo today and laid flowers in memory of the civilians killed.
“We remember the victims and reaffirm our commitment to remembrance and the protection of peace. Those who lost their lives or were injured in the attack on Sarajevo’s Markale market must be remembered, such crimes must never be repeated. Young people should learn about the past while also understanding that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s strength lies in moving toward its future within the European Union and that this path must continue,” said High Representative Schmidt.
