Party Leaders Agree to Talks

In separate meetings today at the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo, the leaders of the HDZ BiH Dragan Covic, the SDP Zlatko Lagumdzija, HDZ 1990 Bozo Ljubic and the SDA Sulejman Tihic agreed to participate in consultations with OHR aimed at helping the parties to overcome the political impasse in the Federation of BiH.

The High Representative reiterates that responsibility for the formation of the authorities at Canton, FBiH and State level has always been and continues to be with the parties that won seats in the October elections.  

The consultations that will take place will build on discussions which the High Representative has had with party leaders since the elections. These talks with party representatives will not initially involve the party leaders themselves, and participants have agreed that they will take place behind closed doors.

OHR welcomes the stated willingness of the parties to cooperate in good faith.
