Chairman of the BiH Presidency Zivko Radisic sent a letter to the UN Security Council chairman Dennis Revaki, warning him that BiH territory is being used in the NATO aggression against Yugoslavia, without approval of the constitutional institutions.
After the passenger buses, even a convoy of humanitarian aid was bombed in Kosovo. The convoy belonged to the Greek branch of the “Doctors of the World”. There were no casualties, and the representatives of this organisation could not confirm who opened fire on the convoy. The Belgrade media reported it had been the NATO airforce, but NATO denied this.
Correspondent from Pristina: The NATO airforce shot a missile at the humanitarian convoy of the “Doctors of the World”, near Urosevac. During the day, the towns of Malisevo and Lebane were bombed, and also the areas surrounding Pristina.
Correspondent from Belgrade: TV “Politika” reports the attacks on Nis and Svilajnac. The correspondent of “Politika” reported attacks on Kraljevo and Raska. “Tanjug” reports that a NATO plane which flew in from the direction of Visegrad was shot down near Bajina Basta. Uzice was also attacked. Power outages continued during the night.
CNN reported of an attack on the Greek humanitarian convoy. The Greek ambassador could not confirm who attacked the convoy.
Secretary-general of the International Journalist Federation Aiden White met in Belgrade with the Steering Board of the Serbian Journalist Association. White condemned the bombing of RTS buildings in Belgrade and Novi Sad.
The highest FRY official demanded urgent cessation of the bombing and diplomatic dialogue with the UN.
Vienna’s “Courier” published parts of an interview with the Yugoslav foreign minister, Zivadin Jovanovic.
Spokesman for the FRY foreign ministry Nebojsa Vujovic said today the issue of an international presence in Kosovo should only be resolved by direct negotiations between the FRY and the UN.
The Montenegrin Assembly speaker Svetozar Marovic met with officials of the Assembly and the Government who reiterated their dedication to the Resolution on Peace, adopted by the Montenegrin parliament.
Montenegrin PM Filip Vujanovic said the “masters of war and peace” should stop the bombing. He emphasised that when he speaks of “masters of war and peace”, he also means the ones in Belgrade.
Russian special envoy Viktor Chernomyrdin said the UN will take part in further negotiations on Kosovo.
US president Bill Clinton visited the NATO HQ in Brussels for talks with Javier Solana and Wesley Clark. Clinton and Solana agreed to intensify the air strikes against the FRY.
Clinton asked the defence minister William Cohen to consider releasing two captured Yugoslav soldiers.
After returning from Washington, the Russian special envoy Viktor Chernomyrdin stated that Russia and the US are starting to find a common language regarding Kosovo.
Russian defence minister Igor Sergeyev said Russia will reconsider the agreements on conventional arms, should NATO air strikes against the FRY persist.
NATO supreme commander Wesley Clark announced intensifying air strikes against FRY troops in Kosovo, “Reuters” report and “Srna” carries.
British foreign minister Robin Cook said the G8 leaders will try to reach a draft proposal for Kosovo at their meeting in Germany tomorrow.
UN secretary-general Kofi Annan asked for permission for the UN team to come to the FRY and asses the situation pertaining to the return of Shqiptar refugees, “Srna” reports.
UN special envoy for human rights Jiri Dinstbier again spoke against the bombing of the FRY, while the ICRC president Cornelio Somaruga said the NATO bombing brought too many mistakes causing the deaths of civilians, “Beta” reports.
China thinks the UN should have an important and constructive role in solving the Kosovo crisis, but no solutions should be imposed upon the FRY.
London’s “Independent” states that NATO air strikes are essentially an American attack against the FRY.
General Walter Jertz confirmed at today’s press conference the loss of an Apache helicopter. Two crewmen were killed. Jertz rejected the possibility that it was NATO who attacked the Greek humanitarian convoy, saying that NATO does not attack civilians. Jamie Shea thanked the parliament of Bulgaria for permission to use its air space for the attacks against the FRY.
The French foreign minister’s special envoy, Michel Fouchet met today with Petar Djokic, Milorad Dodik and Mirko Sarovic to discuss the situation in the FRY and the RS.
RS Government held a session in Banja Luka today. Economic and social issues were discussed.
BiH Presidency members met with the Italian president Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, after holding their regular session.
