NATO continued today the strikes against the FRY by bombing Belgrade, Sombor, Vranje, Surdulica, Pristina, Kraljevo, Zlatibor, Fruska Gora as well as the bridge that connects Backa Palanka to Ilok.

The continuation of the second special session of the RS NA was mainly dedicated to the situation in Yugoslavia. The assembly adopted a Declaration on aggression against Yugoslavia. RS NA adopted a Conclusion regarding the use of BiH space in the function of NATO forces for the aggression against the FRY. The RS NA also adopted a Conclusion pertaining to the participation of the RS representatives in the work of the BiH common bodies. Deputies of the NA adopted a Recommendation, asking the HR Carlos Westendorp and SFOR Commander General Meigs to undertake all the measures, in accordance with the authorizations, to protect peace and neutrality of BiH as well as to ensure that the air space is not used in any way for the logistic support and military actions against the FRY and other neighboring countries.

Report on the 34th war night in the FRY (strikes on Belgrade, Novi Sad, Sombor, Backa Palanka, Vranje, Pirot, Uzice, Cacak, Surdulica, Novi Pazar)

More than 10 persons were killed, and 9 injured in this morning’s attack of NATO on Surdulica, a correspondent of SRNA reports.

One American military helicopter Apache crashed in the vicinity of the airport in Tirana, Pentagon informed. Another one, due to technical problems, was kept in Italy, Beta reports.

Nikola Poplasen, dismissed from the office of the President by the HR Carlos Westendorp, was brought to the clinical-medical center in Banja Luka due to exhaustion and acute ulcer crisis.

There is no stable RS and FBiH without stable surroundings, Zivko Radisic, who put moratorium to his function, stressed today during his addressing of the CoE representatives in Strasbourg. Speaking on situation in BiH, Carlos Westendorp stressed that admission of BiH into the CoE would increase the feeling of the statehood of BiH among all three peoples, suggesting to the European Parliament to enable the admission of BiH as soon as possible.

Russian Minister of Defense Igor Sergeyev stated that he and the special envoy of the Russian President for Yugoslavia Chernomyrdin, at today’s meeting, assessed that NATO is planning to initiate the ground operation in the FRY, Beta carries.

The President of the SPO Vuk Draskovic said that Yugoslavia is obliged to accept the resolution of the UN SC, which will decide what will the international forces in Kosovo look like. At a press conference held in Belgrade, Draskovic, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister,said that almost all of his standpoints are at the same time the standpoints of the Government.

The President of the Australian humanitarian organization Care stated today that the arrest of the two activists of that organization in Yugoslavia probably took place due to the careless use of the military jargon in the reports that were submitted to the donors, Beta reported.

At today’s press conference in the NATO seat in Brussels, General Clark said that the air campaign is to be intensively continued. Clark spoke also about the BiH, saying that the situation there is under control, stressing that there are fewer and fewer demonstrations in the RS regarding the NATO attacks against Yugoslavia. He went on to say that BiH is a magnet for the refugees from the FRY. He said that in Kosovo, at the moment, there are 820,000 refugees who are in a very difficult situation, without water, food and other necessary requirements.

The EU called on international sport federations of the Governments of the countries which organize big sports competitions to ban the Yugoslav sportsmen to participate in all official competitions, but due to the refusal by Italy and Greece, the EU did not manage to impose sanctions on the FRY sports.
