  • The BiH presidency held a session today. The main topic was the forthcoming Stability Pact Summit in Sarajevo. Djokic and Gen. Meigs also discussed issues pertaining to the Summit;

The forthcoming Stability Pact Summit is the main topic of many meetings. Clinton said he hoped participants in the Summit would assume legal obligations for the reconstruction of the Balkans.

Talks between Djokic and Gen. Meigs on the Stability Pact Summit. Djokic said that the Stability pact would contribute to the stabilisation of the entire region. This Summit should remove possibilities for any further conflicts in the region. Gen. Meigs said that the Summit was the opportunity for BiH officials to show the results of an improvement in peace process in Bosnia.

The deputies of both Houses of BiH Parliamentary Assembly also discussed preparations for the Stability Pact Summit. The session was recessed before voting due to the lack of a quorum. They decided to hold a separate session on BiH admission to CoE. RS deputies requested discussion on demilitarisation of the region, economic prosperity, and election legislation. SRT quoted statements of Haris Silajdzic and Sejfudin Tokic.

BiH Presidency discussed issues pertaining to the Stability Pact Summit, support for the initiative for founding the Centre for democracy and peace in Sarajevo, issues pertaining to the state of human rights in BiH, financing of the BiH Constitutional Court. Zivko Radisic talked to US Ambassador to BiH Kauzlarich about the work of common institutions.

A Conference on the Balkans commenced today in Vienna. The Conference is organised by European Social-democratic parties. The Party of Independent Social-Democrats from the RS (led by Dodik) is also attending the Conference.

KOSOVO AND FRY RELATED NEWS

SRT correspondent from Belgrade (Radmila Urosevic) reports on incidents in Kosovo, using BETA, TANJUG and Belgrade media as only sources. SRT carried the news on protest rallies of citizens throughout Serbia, protests of reservists in Kragujevac and Nis, plan of Montenegro to introduce its own currency. The items are accompanied by APTN footage. SRT carried the statements of Dragisa Burzan (Vice President of Social-Democratic Party from Montenegro), SRS, SPO, Democratic Centre, DSS.

BiH Joint Military Commission held a meeting in Mostar today. They discussed their work in the past three months and their future activities.

Press conference in Sarajevo – SRT carried the statements of OHR spokesman Fergusson on HR decision to impose a solution for the establishment of the Federation radio-television, HR considering a decision which would require the RS to amend the law and interim arrangements governing the SRT (Serb Radio Television), necessary conditions for setting up a public service TV at the state level as a successor to BiH RTV.

A meeting on return of refugees was held in Bosanski Petrovac with participation of Gradiska municipal officials and IC representatives.
