The FRY President Slobodan Milosevic today congratulated the new chairman of the B&H Presidency Zivko Radisic on his taking over the position. In his congratulation, reported by the state media, Milosevic expressed his wish that Radisic would contribute to further implementation of the Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement to B&H and expressed his belief that the relations between the FRY and B&H would be improved. The B&H Presidency chairman Zivko Radisic expressed his gratitude to all individuals, parties and associations for their congratulations concerning his appointment and inauguration for the chairman of the B&H Presidency.

After yesterday’s agreement between the FRY President Slobodan Milosevic and the US Envoy for the Balkans Richard Holbrooke, tension in the FRY has visibly relaxed whereas there have still been different reactions from the world regarding a more permanent resolution of the Kosovo issue. At the invitation of the RS Government, the meeting of the presidents of the executive boards of the RS municipal assemblies, chaired by Ostoja Kremenovic, the RS Minister of Administration and Local Self-Administration, was held in Banja Luka today. The RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik was present at the meeting as well. The most discussed issues were those regarding the functioning of the municipal institutions, refugee return and accommodation, problems of veterans, education financing as well as the cooperation between the municipalities and the Government and its ministries.

The RS President Biljana Plavsic in Banja Luka today held separate meetings with the French and Hungarian Ambassadors to B&H. On that occasion, the French Ambassador underlined the great role of the RS President Biljana Plavsic and Prime Minister Milorad Dodik in the opening of the RS towards the world.

The B&H Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dragan Bozanic talked in Sarajevo today with the Chinese Ambassador to B&H. The most discussed issues at the meeting were the past elections, establishment of the new bodies in the RS and the B&H Federation as well as the establishment of the common bodies with a special emphasis to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Serb Coalition for the RS held a press conference in Banja Luka today. At the press conference, representatives of the Serb Coalition informed journalists about the letter of the High Representative to B&H Carlos Westendorp in which the Serb Coalition is requested to support, before the discussion at a session of the RS NA, the Law on the Cessation of the Validity of the Law on the Use of Abandoned Property as well as the establishment of a multi-ethnic police in the RS, together with a series of other legislative and executive measures, in the form of a written commitment.

Since Monday, October 19, 260 children of the Bosniak returnees to the municipality of Brcko will finally start attending schools in the territory of the RS, it was agreed today at the meeting of the Supervisor Robert Farrand with representatives of the RS and the B&H Federation. The parents of the children as well as applicants for teachers in those schools were present at the meeting.
