The IMC has decided to extend the validity of current provisional licences issued to broadcasters in the BiH. The decision was made in order to allow sufficient time for the IMC, in co-operation with entity authorities, to develop a country-wide frequency management plan that might require some adjustment of frequencies before the granting of long-term licences. The IMC has, so far, issued 225 provisional licences with an initial period of validity of 6 months, which for some of the applicants are due to expire shortly.
Simon Haselock called on the RS authorities to adopt the law on SRT, on the basis of the OHR media decision. In an interview given to NN (“Nezavisne Novine”), Haselock said that the essence of the decision is regulating media issues in the BiH and adoption of the standards of EBU and International Federation of Journalists. Haselock said that the RS Government had no objections to amendments of the law on SRT and added that SRT would become more legitimate and be more supported by the IC if they accepted the law. Commenting on Dodik’s letter, Haselock said that the letter was written by the RS Minister of Information, Rajko Vasic, and only signed by Dodik. “Dodik’s main problem is that he does not understand the importance of the IC regarding the issue of public broadcasting. Every time we turn to him (Dodik), he forwards the letter to Vasic and lets him deal with it”, said Haselock.

IPTF Spokesman for Banja Luka and Bihac, Alun Roberts said at a press conference that several incidents took place in Drvar and the victims were Serb returnees. “This case was connected to a recent attack by a Serb returnee on a Croat woman”, said Roberts. He added that the Serb returnee is imprisoned in Mostar, that the pre-trial detention was extended for another 30 days and that the charges against him have not been pressed yet. Roberts added that two older Serb women were beaten up in a recent incident and one Serb returnee was expelled from his house in the centre of Drvar. The local police have identified some of the perpetrators but have not done anything about it.
A fire broke out on Tuesday at the SFOR shooting range at Cemernica mountain near Glamoc, and it has still not been extinguished. The fire is spreading very quickly and was caused by SFOR‘s combat shooting training. Extinguishing is not possible because of the mines and other explosive devices left from the BiH war.
