News Summary
Barry meets with Dodik, Radisic and Mihajlovic in Banja Luka
OSCE Head of Mission to BiH Robert Barry met with RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, BiH Presidency member Zivko Radisic and Co-Chairman of BiH Council of Ministers Svetozar Mihajlovic in Banja Luka. Barry said that the cooperation between member parties in the Sloga Coalition has not been discontinued. Barry condemns the Belgrade authority of attempting to destabilize the situation in the RS. Local elections in BiH will be held on 8 April so that the BiH permanent election law should be adopted before those elections. Barry thanked RS representatives for their work in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly during the discussion on the draft BiH Permanent Election Law. Barry participated in a consultative meeting of BiH political parties, explaining that during the pre-election campaign period, starting this Wednesday, electronic media have to provide equal access to all registered political parties, coalitions and independent candidates. According to the rules and regulations of the OSCE Provisional Election Commission, paid political advertising on all radio and TV stations in BiH is prohibited. Media houses that do not have informative programs are not obliged to follow this rule. Political spots cannot be longer than 60 s, while total advertising time on stations cannot exceed 14 hours. Electronic media are obligated to send to a schedule of political programming to the IMC at least seven days prior to broadcasting. Media violating these rules could lose their right to broadcast. The IMC will carry out the monitoring of electronic and print media in BiH during the elections, he said. Barry said that candidates running in local elections are not allowed to use property belonging to someone else.
