News Summary

Sloga requests Djokic resign

The Sloga Coalition requested the resignation of RS National Assembly Speaker Petar Djokic and accused SPRS President Zivko Radisic for the current situation in the coalition. RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik stated that Radisic persistently tried to destabilize Sloga, adding that Djokic came to power as a Sloga candidate, thus the Sloga Presidency expects Djokic’s resignation to contribute to resolution of the situation. Asked whether Djokic was informed of the Sloga decision, Dodik said that Sloga is not obliged to inform the parties or their members about Presidency decisions. Dodik also said that should Djokic refuse to resign, the Sloga Coalition would demand his dismissal. Dodik held a meeting with four SPRS ministers that resigned from the RS Government. Education Minister Nenad Suzic stated for reporters that the ministers had to respect the SPRS Main Board decision, although they do not agree with it personally. Suzic said that the resignations could not be irrevocable and added that the four ministers will remain in the SPRS. Dodik believes that the reasons for the SPRS withdrawal from Sloga are the subjective relations towards the Yugoslav regime and their personal interests. Dodik stated that the SPRS decision to participate in the work of authorities outside the Sloga Coalition is confusing. Radisic’s office announced a press conference for 22 February. SNS President Biljana Plavsic gave no comment on the current situation. Djokic informed that he would make a public statement on 22 February.
