News Summary

Brcko expected to bring many improvements, especially in economy and returns

Bosniak Member of the BiH Presidency Alija Izetbegovic met with Brcko Supervisor Robert Farrand, who informed him of the current Brcko status. The latest Brcko model is expected to bring many improvements, especially in regard to the economy and returns. Head of Brcko-Ravne Municipality Mijo Anic said that the only unsatisfied people he encountered are refugees and locals occupying other people’s homes. The current issue is return to Bukvic, Cerik and Vucici villages, which, before the war, were occupied by 900 families. Brcko Mayor Sinisa Kisic stated that the organization of permanent returns is necessary. Head of BiH Federation part of Brcko Munir Jusufovic guaranteed better living conditions to all returnees from the RS, saying that a large number of people will be employed and others will receive assistance. So far, 460 houses have been renovated and 150 more will soon be completed, creating an opportunity for an equal number of Croat and Bosniak returns, as well as open two-sided return. Next year is expected to be the real year of return to Brcko.
