Counterfeit KM notes discovered – BiH Central Bank

The BiH Central Bank announced that, since Monday, one thousand counterfeit 10 KM bills, four hundred and sixty one 100 KM, twenty nine 50 KM and twenty five 5 KM notes had been discovered, mainly in Zenica and Sarajevo. BiH Central Bank Governor Peter Nicoll stated that there is no need for major concern and that the quantities of forgeries are not large. Nicole claims that the BiH Central bank will always be able to discover counterfeit bank notes. Professor Esad Bilic, Advisor to the BiH Central Bank, explained the errors and differences in the forged notes.

Islamic community representatives visit Srebrenica

A Tuzla Islamic community delegation and delegates from the RS National Assembly visited the sites of mosques and other Islamic facilities in Srebrenica. During the meeting with representatives of Srebrenica multiethnic authority and OHR representatives, the main issue was refugee return and the protection of Islamic community property. Tuzla Mufti Husein Kavazovic stated that in Srebrenica the assistance of the IC is needed to strengthen security and establish multiethnic police. The High Representative’s Special Envoy for Srebrenica, Bent Jansen, stated that the Tuzla Mufti requested assistance to return an Orthodox priest to Ilijas. Jansen stated that he fully respects the need of a priest to be among his people in Ilijas and for an Imam to be present in Srebrenica.

Terzic addresses letter to Luzanski

Central Bosnia Deputy Canton Governor Adnan Terzic sent a letter to BiH Federation President Ivo Andric Luzanski as a response to Luzanski’s statement concerning the predicament of Croats in Travnik. Terzic’s letter states that Travnik citizens are jeopardized because institutions are divided and because of the non-functioning systems of education, health care and police and also because of the existence of Herzeg Bosnian institutions.

US Embassy concerned over Senad Avdic

The US Embassy issued a statement on Tuesday expressing concern over the charges of slander raised against Slobodna Bosna Editor-in-Chief Senad Avdic. The Embassy appeals to the BiH Government to implement the legal regulations on slander, insult and freedom of information and appeals to journalists to report objectively.
