The Summit of Stability Pact countries will be held in BiH in July, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder announced in Bonn, according to TV BIH. The Stability Pact is being established while the EU Council is the oldest European joint institution which Bosnia wants to join, TV said. All three BiH Presidency members underlined this to the EU Council delegation which is visiting BiH. BiH Presidency must be an example for establishing all joint institutions in BiH, concluded the Presidency at a meeting with EU Council delegation. EU representatives told a presser that the process of admission of BiH to EU Council has started but that strict criteria and conditions must be met before BiH becomes a member, TV said.

Mirza Hajric, aid to member of BiH Presidency Alija Izetbegovic told TV BiH that the hosting of the Summit of Stability Pact is a historical event for BiH. Hajric said that the Summit will be a major opportunity for “Sarajevo and BiH to present themselves in the real light show and to show to the world what Bosnia has done so far for stability and peace.”

TV BiH allocated almost four minutes to a very detailed report on the situation in Kosovo, including statements made by US President Bill Clinton that there will be no aid to Yugoslavia until the current regime and Milosevic stay in power as well as information on the return of some 135 thousand Albanians to the province. Also included in the report was the agreement signed between KFOR and KLA that is to disarm the Albanian troops.
BiH public witnessed last several days contradictory statements on the struggle against organised crime in BiH made by Interior Ministry and Justice Ministry officials, TV BiH reported. Following a meeting of officials of the two federal ministries held in Sarajevo Monday, it was concluded that despite different opinions their goals remain the same, TV said. Mehmed Zilic, Federation Minister told TV it was concluded at the meeting what needs to be done by the system to protect citizens and police officials and sanction those who endanger security in BiH.OHR spokeswoman, Alexandra Stilgmayer told TV BiH that OHR stands firm in their demands that all officials (police, prosecutors and courts) must perform their duties at full strength and have broader views of the law.

Tuzla canton officials asked British Ambassador to BiH Graham Hand for assistance is solving problems related to refugee return, TV BiH reported. At a meeting held in Tuzla Monday Ambassador Hand was informed about problems canton officials have. Ambassador Hand asked to be informed about problem in Tuzla canton and municipality legal departments, focusing on problems with prosecutors, TV said.

EU Council delegation met with BiH Council of Ministers and they were informed about the work of Council of Ministers and the problems they encounter, TV said. One of the main problems is coordination and cooperation between the Council and Parliament Assembly. Some of Council proposals are not even being considered by the Assembly, Neven Tomic, Council member said.

Head of World Bank‘s mission to BiH, Rory O’Sullivan expressed his concern with possible abuse of power in BiH for personal enrichment, especially when privatisation of companies and apartments is concerned, TV said. O’Sullivan told a news conference that World Bank found no evidence that their funds intended for the reconstruction of BiH were tampered with. He added that BiH will not become interesting for foreign investors until they are assured that BiH has a stabile financial system.

First BiH post-war currency Convertible Mark celebrates its first birthday on Tuesday, TV said. Convertible Mark in just one year became very strong, Peter Nicholl, Governor of BiH Central Bank told a news conference, Monday. He added that KM can now be exchanged in Austria, Germany and Switzerland and soon will be accepted in Hungary and Croatia.

Council of Bosnian Intellectuals in a statement said that BiH Presidency member Zivko Radisic’s request to The Hague tribunal to withdraw the charges against Yugoslavia was a political diversion and a violation of BiH Constitution, TV said. The Council demanded OHR, according to the power it ws granted, takes proper measures against Radisic.
