News Summary
The Hague Tribunal removes seal from Galic’s secret indictment
TV BiH reporter Sabina Bacvic, reporting from one of the sites held by members of the RS Sarajevo-Romanija Corps during the war, stated that from this site Sarajevo citizens were held under constant terror by bombings, attacks and killings for three and half years. On Tuesday, The Hague Tribunal removed the seal from the secret indictment against Stanislav Galic. General Galic bears individual responsibility because he personally participated in the planning, ordering and execution of the bombing campaign and sniper shootings at Sarajevo citizens. The Hague Tribunal Prosecutor claims that thousands of people, regardless of age and gender, were killed in this campaign. A list of 32 victims of sniper fire, most of them Bosniaks, but also Serbs and Croats, was added as an annex to this indictment. The US State Department evaluated the Galic arrest as a step in the right direction and believes that it is a matter of time before Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic meet the same fate. BiH Presidency Member Zivko Radisic stated that the SFOR operation was an unsuitable act against the RS, its people and its army. The RS Government charged the Justice Minister with reviewing all information on the Galic arrest. JUL President Mira Markovic stated that the Court in The Hague is doing what the Gestapo was doing during WWII and its prisons are a sophisticated replacement for those in prison camps and crematories.
