NATO Council holds permanent sessions regarding the situation in Kosovo. It was announced that NATO is not satisfied with the speed of withdrawal of Serbian troops from Kosovo. It was reported from Belgrade that FRY President Milosevic, immediately after the agreement with Hoolbroke, continued to close down the independent media. Dailies “Danas” and “Dnevni Telegraf” were stopped during the night, their equipment was seized and journalists harassed. Serbian authorities accused these media for spreading the fear and panic, for writing about NATO attacks. Russia will not make any exceptions to FRY regarding NATO intervention in Kosovo in order to obtain foreign aid, Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivanov said.

Croatian president Tudjman made a decision to appoint Ivica Kosovic for representative of Croatian President Office, and Pavao Miljevac was appointed to replace the Minister of Defence Andrija Hebrang.

BiH National Bank Liquidator Dudley and HR deputy for Economic Affairs, Fau held a press conference regarding the BiH NB liquidation. The BiH NB has to stop working, for this would solve the problem of appropriate work of the BiH Central Bank Dudley and Fau said. Dudley said that the Federation Government has to find another, alternative bank for money deposits, beside the BiH NB. This issue should be solved within a week, or the HR will take the initiative, in accordance with his authorisation, Didier Fau said.

Several thousand demobilised soldiers, war invalids, members of killed soldiers’ families, accompanied by Zenica miners and Zenica Steelworks workers, organised a protest meeting called “Gentlemen, we are still alive.” Their request is urgent solving of problems of the soldiers’ population. Among other requests, the gathered people demanded implementation of Annex 7, to pass the laws on rights of veterans and members of their families, laws on social care of demobilised soldiers, and that military booklets are not excluded from the privatisation process.

Kingdom of Holland Government and UMCOR signed the contract about reconstruction of 40 houses for Croat returnees in the villages of Travnik and Novi Travnik municipalities.

Travnik was declared open city at today’s session, held with the presence of International Community representatives, as well as local authorities representative. Ambassador Schumacher said that more people returned to Travnik than to the Canton 10 area or the whole RS.

Zepce Municipality Council held a session today, without presence from the HDZ Councilors. Today’s session was scheduled at the meeting on September 4 at the OHR, and was supposed to determine the list of municipal administration employees and the municipality budget for the rest of the year. OHR Political Department representative delivered a letter from Ambassador Schumacher to the Council Chairman Hodzic, in which the concern is expressed for slowness in joint authorities establishment. The letter also says: “We are currently determining who is responsible for the lack of progress and we will publish our decisions soon.”

Federation Army is from today richer for 7 famous US helicopters “Irokez.” Federation Army pilots will receive 15 helicopters UH1H-Irokez within the programme of military stabilisation out of which 7 landed to Rajlovac military base today, while the remained eight are expected to arrive in the next several days.
