News Summary

OSCE and IMC organize press conference to present establishment of Press Council

After the OSCE Print Media Code, IMC and BiH media representatives are working to establish the Press Council, which would be charged with implementing the Code’s provisions. Dieter Lorraine, an IMC representative, said that this body would have two main functions: first, to defend print media freedoms and, second, to bring rulings on complaints concerning poor journalism or bias reporting. The pre-condition for the establishment of the Press Council is the self-regulation of the press to prevent the influence of the ruling structures on free and fair reporting.
