News Summary

RS National Assembly session does not support BiH charges against Yugoslavia at International Court of Justice

The RS National Assembly held session in Banja Luka where delegates discussed the BiH charges against Yugoslavia. The RS National Assembly discarded the charges with two-thirds majority of votes and considers the charges to be withdrawn. CD Coalition delegate Safet Bico stated that there is no constitutional basis for the suggested discussion in the RS National Assembly session. SDA delegates walked out of the session. BiH Presidency Member Zivko Radisic explained that this charge is not a charge against one state but against the entire people and added it has destructive consequences for the RS constitutional and legal system. Radisic asserts that withdrawal of the charges against Yugoslavia is of vital RS interest. RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik stated that the charges will not contribute to tolerance and reconciliation.

RS Government reacts to Radisic, Djokic and Poplasen visit to Kosovo

In an official statement the RS Government sharply condemned the visit made by BiH Presidency Member Zivko Radisic, RS National Assembly Speaker Petar Djokic and replaced RS president Nikola Poplasen to Belgrade and characterized it as “a destructive political act.” The RS Government said that no one was informed of this visit, which might again destabilize the internal political situation in the RS. The official statement says that the talks in Belgrade are an attempt of the Belgrade political conglomerate to break the ‘Sloga’ Coalition and destabilize the RS Government. RS Government considers the visit as an irresponsible political act.

Radisic on his visit to Belgrade

Explaining the reasons of his visit to Belgrade, BiH Presidency Member Zivko Radisic stated he was “legally visiting a state that was internationally recognized, a state which is our neighbor, the state with which we had and we have many beneficial relations. If the question here is, why did I meet with Milosevic, I can say if someone else would be Yugoslavia’s president, I would meet with him as well” Radisic concluded.

RS delegation visit to Belgrade new attempt to undermine Dayton Agreement – BHTV correspondent from Belgrade

TV BiH correspondent from Belgrade on RS delegation visit to Belgrade: “As if the Yugoslav president still imagines that roses are blossoming in his dark world here, as if he does not have enough problems of his own, he persistently continues with his hazardous and nationalistic policy of getting involved in affairs on other states’ soil. Instead of an exhausting commentary on Saturday’s arrival of the high RS delegation to Belgrade, some remarks need to be made. First of all, it is clear that the completely uninformed or politically naĆ“ve citizen of the RS or Yugoslavia may think that the topic of Saturday’s talks was really economic and general co-operation and all that enrolled in the known phrase that both partners are ready to consistently implement Dayton Agreement. It is clear that Milosevic wanted to put himself again in the position of the supreme leader of Bosnian Serbs in order to take the report from his servants from the RS and give necessary instructions for the RS National Assembly’s impromptu session held on Sunday.” According to the reporter, the RS delegation’s visit could be considered another attempt to undermine the Dayton agreement.
