The Hague

Adis Saranovic produced the report on trial of the indicted war criminal, Dusko Sikirica, the former commander of the “Keraterm” concentration camp. He plead as not guilty before the ICTY. Sikirica is one of the nine individuals who were directly accused of committing genocide.

Srebrenica

The Co-ordination Board for organisation of the commemoration gathering of Bosniacs in Potocari on 11th July, announced that at least 45 buses would go to Potocari. Serb authorities feel that the number of buses will create tensions in Srebrenica. Reported by Damir Kaletovic.

Banja Luka

The RS Assembly decided that the RS Government would not be allowed to function independently in the future. The Government will be obliged to inform the Assembly on all of its future decisions, contracts and agreements.

Montenegro/Serbia

The Montenegrin Government adopted a proposal of resolution for rejection of yesterday’s decision on changes in the FRY Constitution. In accordance with the proposal, the Montenegrin State authorities will be instructed to protect interests of Montenegro.

Opposition parties in Serbia reacted sharply to the decision.

The US State Department announced that the only purpose of the change in the Constitution is legalisation of Milosevic’s dictatorship in the future.

Mrkonjic Grad

High temperatures caused several fires around Mrkonjic Grad. The fire destroyed about 100 square km of forests. Reported by Igor Pozgaj.

There have been 72 registered patients who have Q-fever in the Federation of B&H so far. The spread of the disease cannot be stopped, if an illegal import of cattle continues. Mirna Sadikovic produced the report.

OBN journalist Sanjin Beciragic discovered new details about the affair of “Dnevni Avaz” and the Federal Tax Administration. The Director of “Dnevni Avaz”, Fahrudin Radoncic denied claims that “Dnevni Avaz” had KM2,5 million of unregistered revenue in 1997. “This was obviously a political set-up”, Radoncic said. The Director of the Tax Administration, Ramiz Dzaferovic is disappointed because the OHR insisted on cancellation of the tax control in “Dnevni Avaz”.

Sarajevo

In B&H “Elektroprivreda”, an agreement was signed on construction of four small hydro-electric plants in Fojnica. The project is DM14,5 million worth and should be implemented in two years. Reported by Anes Alic.

Prozor

Miroljub Bevanda and Jure Lukenda have tried for several years to build a small hydro-electric plant. Local people are against the construction, because they think that the plant will endanger nature. Mr. Lukenda says that these claims are not true. OBN reporter Amarildo Gutic produced the report.

Zenica

The Association of refugees presented an aid project for the displaced who live in camps around the country, Hajrudin Durakovic confirmed from Zenica.
