Several hundreds of citizens in Tuzla protested against violence in this town, demanding an urgent trial of suspects in the case of brothers Percic, who were seriously injured a few days ago. Elma Nakicevic produced the report.

Teachers in the RS organised a general strike. Lectures in elementary and secondary schools, as well as faculties will not start until the RS Government fulfils Union requests. Reported by Sanela Zivkovic.

Health workers also announced strike in the RS. “We will try to find a solution for this situation”, said the RS Minister of Health, Zeljko Rodic. Reported by Tatjana Lajsic.

Members of the B&H Presidency feel that the visit of the Yugoslav President, Vojislav Kostunica was an important contribution to normalisation of relations between Yugoslavia and B&H. Delegations for two forthcoming summits, in Skopje and Qatar have been appointed. Zeljka Lekic produced the report.

The Deputy High Representative, Ralph Johnson met the Chairman of the B&H Presidency, Zivko Radisic in Banja Luka. The main theme of the discussion was the visit of the Yugoslav President, Vojislav Kostunica to Sarajevo. They announced constructive co-operation between the OHR and the B&H Presidency. The Croat National Assembly session will take place on 28th October in Novi Travnik. All Croat parties except for the New Croat Initiative will attend the session. A Declaration on status of Croats in B&H should be adopted, as well as a decision on possible organisation of a referendum, Anita Damjanovic reported.

According to the B&H Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic, there are numerous problems which prevent B&H from joining the European Integration. According to several international officials, change of authorities after the forthcoming general elections in B&H is essential for any further progress, Amarildo Gutic reported.

The Yugoslav President, Vojislav Kostunica met the EU Commissioner for International Relations, Chris Patten today. They agreed that it was in mutual interest to create strong economy in Yugoslavia.
The US Secretary General, Madeline Albright met the President of North Korea. Ms. Albright said that Washington intended to establish closer relations with this country.
The Israeli Army decided to close the International Airport in Gaza.
Huge floods caused large damage in Spain. Traffic between Valencia and Madrid has been stopped. Gordana Frimel reported on world events.

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch announced the second decision on restructuring of the B&H media. The decision defines a path to self-sustainability for three future broadcasters in B&H: PBS and two entity televisions. However, a time frame has not been defined for implementation of the decision.
