Brussels
The fifth and last Donors’ Conference in Brussels was finished. OBN special reporter from Brussels, Jadranko Katana reported that expected amount of donations for BiH was exceeded, but these funds would be realized under conditions of cooperation only. In the second day of this Conference the main topic was Brcko and Mostar. Projects for reconstruction of these two towns as well as the project of media reconstruction were supported. It was concluded to hold special session in the form of mini Donors’ Conference on the 1st of June on media transformation issue only.
Sarajevo
OBN’s Bakir Hadziomerovic was at Sarajevo Airport when BiH Representatives returned from Donors Conference held in Brussels. According to their statements, they were satisfied with results of the Conference and grateful to Donors who realized promises from the Dayton Agreement. 135 million dollars out of billion and 54 million dollars for BiH was planned for implementation of the Dayton Agreement.
Yugoslavia
Last night, NATO continued the air campaign against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Strikes were intensified in Kosovo particularly. Weapon and ammunition storages were NATO targets last night. The prison in Istok in Kosovo was hit. Tanjug Agency reported on death of 19 prisoners at least. Swiss and Indian Embassies were damaged. According to the NATO report, 40 targets were hit in Yugoslavia last night. In Montenegro (Cetinje) people demonstrated against the presence of the Yugoslav Army and military occupation of Cetinje.
Meetings
Representatives of G-8 and Russia discussed the Draft of Resolution on the war finishing in Yugoslavia in Bonn. This document would be presented to the UN Security Council. There was a lot of diplomatic meetings noticed on the Kosovo crises and Yugoslavia issue.
Refugees
Authorities in Belgrade guaranteed the freedom of movement through Kosovo for the UN Humanitarian Mission. According to the UN High Commissariat for refugees, the Pristina surroundings was cleaned. 2. 700 of refugees entered Macedonia yesterday. The new refugees wave started through Albania.
Zagreb
OBN’s reporter Danijela Bozic made analysis on the BiH Ambassador in Croatia and Croatian Minister of Justice meeting regarding the Fikret Abdic case. Actually, there was no new details on Abdic’s handing over, but Croatian Minister of Justice, Zvonimir Separovic, announced his suspicion that there are some high Bosnian officers who made a war crime in Croatia as former officers of the Yugoslav Army.
Banja Luka
OBN’s reporter Jovanka Stevanovic reported that citizen of Banja Luka will have opportunity to use the mobile telephony. It is planned to try this system about the and of the May 1999.
BiH roads and railways
According to the agreement of the Organization SEKI the highway through BiH will be involved in the European Roads Network. Private investors will finance this project, but tender still is not agreed. The Una-Sana railway will be mobile again after complying the railway time table in BiH.
Konjic
OBN’s reporter Anes Alic made a piece on the strike of the “Neretva Sipad Konjic” employees. The general manager went from enterprise, the production was stopped and workers did not receive their salaries even if this factory worked during the war.
Zenica
Referring to the privatization process, seminars on auctions were organized in Zenica. As OBN’s Nela Kacmarcik reported the test auction was held in Zenica today.
Health Care System in BiH
Banja Luka – the Government of Republika Srpska provided funds for the rebuilding of the Clinics, but citizen are not capable to provide enough money for health care. Sarajevo – the first transplantation of marrow could be worked out about the end of this year in BiH. The price for such operations would be decreased. Education for Bosnian experts in this ground and appropriate equipment are needed. BiH – according to the new data there are 200 diabetics up to 14 years in the BiH Federation.
Kiseljak
During his visit to Kiseljak, Chief of the UNHCR Regional Office said that 1999 was the last year for Bosnia and Herzegovina to receive aid from international community. But there would be another ways to help people.
Sport
A report on the BiH Representation success at the European Karate Championship in Greece. Bosnian Seating Handball Team succeeded in Holland, too.
The final draw for the play off matches was defined at the meeting UEFA team and Football Association of BiH in Sarajevo. This was followed by the International Chess Tournament results currently undergoing in Sarajevo.
