The current financial deficit of B&H is DM 25 million. The Government is forced to use loans in order to cope with the lack of money. IMF representatives warned the Federal Government of numerous other facts which could cause great losses at the end of the year. Reported by Amarildo Gutic.

Sarajevo

“Protection of human rights is the basis for construction of a democratic B&H”, said Sam Hanson, the Canadian Ambassador in B&H. Canada invested about 93 million Canadian dollars in B&H so far. 10 days ago, the Canadian Government signed a contract with “ATCO Frontec”, the company for construction of military bases for SFOR soldiers. This was the first time that Canadian forces used the services of a civil company for their military operations outside Canada. OBN reporter Vedran Persic produced the report.

World

Foreign ministers of Ethiopia and Eritrea signed a peace agreement today.

There was no progress in 5-day-discussions about a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine in Washington.

The UN Secretary General, Kofi Anan arrived in Teheran, and asked Iran for help in establishment of a permanent peace in South Lebanon.

The traditional march of the Orange march in Northern Ireland started with clashes between the police and Catholics.

KFOR continued confiscating unregistered weapons in Kosovo. They believe that they belonged to the former KLO. The piece on current world events was produced by OBN journalist Mladen Maric.

FRY

According to a Moscow newspaper, Slobodan Milosevic is preparing changes in the federal Constitution, according to which the FRY should be divided into 8 Cantons. “Such changes could only be implemented with the formal agreement of the Montenegrin Assembly, which certainly will not agree with such changes”, said Dragan Soc, the Montenegrin Minister of Justice. The Montenegrin Prime Minister is disappointed because of the announced changes. There haven’t been any official confirmations of these changes from Belgrade yet. Reported by Amarildo Gutic.

Tuzla

About 300 pre-war inhabitants returned to Dugi Dol, near Zvornik. The village is an example of a successful return and a great encouragement for returnees in surrounding villages in the RS. The report was produced by Muhamed Berbic.

Dobretici

Only about a hundred refugees returned to 30 villages around Jajce. There is electricity in only 3 houses in Dobretici. Refugees hope that someone would help them. Otherwise, life in this area will not be possible for them. Reported by Branka Vrebac.

Tjentiste

The Canton Board of SUBNOR organised a visit to Tjentiste, on 57th Anniversary of the great Sutjeska battle. They paid their respects to soldiers who died in this battle. OBN reporter Sevko Bajic produced the report.

Sport

Reports on international football, tennis and rally competitions were presented. The “Bosna” karate club won the bronze medal at the European Championship in Tel Aviv.
