Mostar

Goran Vlajnic was arrested by the Federal police force this morning, under suspicion that he had committed an act of terrorism in Hercegovacko-Neretvljanski Canton. The largest part of Mostar was blocked. A few hours later, the Canton Internal Ministry announced that Vlajnic was released, and that he had been arrested by mistake. According to OBN source, Zoran Bacic Colo was also arrested today in Vranic. He has been suspected of terrorism, and was transported to Sarajevo after the arrest.

Grabovica

During his visit to Grabovica, the B&H Presidency member, Ante Jelavic proposed abolition of guilt for some of those who participated in war crimes. Most representatives of other parties disagreed with Mr. Jelavic, Amarildo Gutic reported.

Sarajevo

The Federal Parliament did not adopt proposed changes in the Law on retirement and insurance, despite the request from the High Representative. According to the High Representative, the B&H Government might lose $130 million of aid from the World Bank and $24 million of loan because of this. Reported by Mirna Sadikovic.

Banja Luka

The US Ambassador, Thomas Miller visited Banja Luka today, where he met several RS officials. “For the US Government, Milorad Dodik is still the RS Prime Minister”, the Ambassador said. Mr. Miller met the Mayor of Banja Luka, and demanded that construction of the “Ferhadija” mosque starts as soon as possible. The report was produced by Suzana Vukcevic.

Zagreb

The Stability Pact Working Group organised a three-day session in Zagreb. The Chairman of the Croatian Assembly, Zlatko Tomcic will open the official part of the meeting tomorrow. Mr. Tomcic met the Special Stability Pact Co-ordinator, Bodo Hombach. Participants of the gathering will complete the Zagreb Declaration. Reported by Gordana Simonovic.

Travnik

Citizens of the village of Grahovcici blocked the entrance of the coal mine “Abid Lolic”. They claim that works in the mine constantly damage their houses, and that they are in danger of demolition. The Court should decide about the future of the mine.

Sarajevo

According to the agreement from 8th September 2000, drivers from B&H and Yugoslavia, who own green or yellow cards, will not have to pay any additional amounts when crossing the border between the two countries, starting from tonight. According to the Director of the State Border Service, Slavisa Vukovic, the B&H Border Service will not respect the deadline, and they will wait for a decision of the B&H Council of Ministers. By the initiative of the Swiss Academy “Landeg”, the OHR sponsored seminars in Sarajevo, Travnik and Banja Luka with the theme “Education for peace in B&H”, Meliha Hasanbegovic reported.
