Sarajevo
According to the spokespersons of the BiH Presidency members, the BiH Presidency had a brisk discussion about the charges raised by Republic Bosnia and Herzegovina against Federal Republic Yugoslavia in 1993. The RBiH raised charges in front of the Hague Tribunal because of allegedly committed aggression and genocide in BiH. The Hague Tribunal will decide whether to accept the charges or not. The Presidency members decided to visit Slovenia together. Also, they suggested November 21st, the date of signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, for the Day of Peace. Pensioners
This was followed by a report on the demand of pensioners in the BiH Federation for receiving late pensions and improving their economic situation. The BiH Federation Prime Minister, Edhem Bicakcic, said that the Government had been started to work on the issue. Also, the Prime Minister said that the general strike of workers, announced for October 25th, was illegal, OBN reporter, Damir Kaletovic, confirmed.
Visit of the UN Secretary General
A report on the visit of the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, to Sarajevo. The Secretary General met with the BiH Presidency. The report on this was produced by OBN reporter, Danijela Bozic.
In seven days time, SFOR Commander in BiH, General Montgomery Meigs, will hand over his duties to his USA counterpart, General Ronald Adams. During his today’s meeting with media representatives, General Meigs said that preservation of peace and improvement of the freedom of movement was his success. He said that he could had been more successful in bringing accused for war crimes to the Hague Tribunal detention. He added that the priority in BiH was the establishment of stable police and judiciary systems. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Zeljka Lekic.
Brussels / Serbia
Today in Brussels, foreign ministers of the EU member countries met with the representatives of the Serbian and Montenegrin pro-democratic movements. However, representatives of the biggest Serbian opposition parties did not attend the meeting. Thirty representative were invited and only fifteen of them came. This was followed by a report on the current events in Serbia. Danica Ilic produced the report for OBN from Belgrade.
World
A piece on the rejection of the peace proposal made by the Chechen President to Russia was followed by reports on elections in Albania, Portugal and Germany. This was followed by reports on current events in East Timor and winner of the Nobel Prize for medicines. OBN journalists Gordana Frimel and Slobodan Maksimovic produced the report.
Banja Luka
The “Stop Smuggling” action continues in the RS. The RS Customs announced that cigarettes worth 80,000 DEM were confiscated within their latest action. A report on this was produced by OBN reporter from Banja Luka, Valentina Knezevic.
Glamoc
Association of Refugees and Displaced Persons of the West Krajina Municipalities ask the construction of the military proving ground in Glamoc to be stopped. They claim that this would prevent return of Serb 271 families to the area.
Duboka (Stolac)
A piece on 80 Croat families who returned to the Duboka village near Stolac. Although they received help in the reconstruction material and livestock they still lack a lot of other things necessary for their every day life.
Sarajevo
A report on the six billionth inhabitant of the Planet Earth. Symbolically, this will be a baby born in Sarajevo tonight. The UN Secretary General will visit the hospital and the baby, OBN reporter, Mirela Pehar, confirmed.
