Travnik

Last night, a bomb placed under a private car in Travnik. Officials from the Srednja-Bosna Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the incident was not politically motivated. A police officer, who came on the site upon an anonymous phone call, was slightly injured. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Ana Drmac.

Zagreb

Today, the Acting President of the Republic of Croatia, Vlatko Pavletic, talked with the winners of the parliamentary elections in Croatia, Ivica Racan and Drazen Budisa, about handing over of authorities. The conclusion reached at the meeting was that this should be implemented as soon as possible in order to respect deadlines provided by the Constitution and to provide regular presidential elections. World

Representatives of the opposition parties in Serbia have begun talks about a joint strategy with an aim to organise premature elections. This was initiated by the SPO (Serb Movement for Reconstruction). The SPO suggested that the elections should be organised by the end of April. This was followed by a report on Chechenia. The Chechen troops continued their contra-offensive. The Russian Government announced that they were ready to continue negotiations about Chechenia if the Chechens do not ask to separate from the Russian Federation. After eight days of discussions, the negotiations between Israel and Syria ended in the USA without signs on reaching a final agreement. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Zeljka Lekic.

Business in BiH

The USA investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been below the expectations of the local politicians and businessmen. The Executive Vice President of the US Overseas Private Investing Corporation, Kirk Robertson, said that the US businessmen would leave a country immediately if they found out there were corruption. Through this Corporation, four private companies invested their funds worth over 11 million dollars in BiH. The report was produced by OBN journalist, Vedran Persic.

Guests of TV INFO – James Lyon and Mladen Ivanic (Sarajevo / Banja Luka)

The beginning of the process of privatisation in the RS was the reason to call the Representative of the International Crisis Group, James Lyon, and the Professor of the Banja Luka University, Department for Economics, Mladen Ivanic, to TV INFO. James Lyon said that there was a possibility that in a two or three year time business situation in the RS become better than in the BiH Federation because the US Government would give more attention to the process of privatisation in the RS. Also, the current law on labour in the BiH Federation will also make the process of privatisation in the BiH Federation slower. This law do not exist in the RS. Professor Mladen Ivanic said that separate economic development of two BiH entities was not possible and that only a balanced economic development can provide long-term peace and stability in the country. The guests gave their opinion about the Stability Pact for the South East Europe.

Sarajevo

This was followed by the statement of the BiH Federation Prime Minister, Edhem Bicakcic, about the claim of James Lyon at the Independent Intellectuals Association “Circle 99” meeting. The Prime Minister said that Lyon’s anticipations about the process of privatisation in the BiH Federation within the next two years were not grounded on the realistic, macro-economic data.

Mostar / Sarajevo

The BiH Federation Agency for Banking decided to introduce provisional management in the “Gospodarska banka” from Mostar because this bank do not have five million DEM of the shareholding capital required for the solvency of a bank. However, the Agency for Banking is a governmental organisation and the owner of the “Gospodarska banka” main portion of shares is the Federal Ministry of Finance. Members of the Syndicate in the Zenica factory “Prim” went on strike. One of the reasons was that workers did not receive their salaries. The report was produced by OBN reporter from Zenica, Nela Kacmarcik.
